Fortnite’s ESP-Buimet-003 error affects players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. While the problem could be on Epic Games’ end, an independent advisor for Microsoft gave some console-specific solutions.

1. Check if Fortnite’s servers are down

Fortnite’s ESP-Buimet-003 error usually pops up when the servers are having trouble, so you should first check on Fortnite’s server status.

If the servers are down then it’s a case of waiting for Epic Games to fix the issues, but check out the other solutions if the servers are up and running.

2. Restart your console or PC

Turning it off and on again is one of the simplest solutions for tech problems, and has been known to work when looking to fix Fortnite’s ESP-Buimet-003 error code.

3. Power cycle your Xbox or PlayStation

If simply restarting your console didn’t fix Fortnite’s ESP-Buimet-003 error, then you should try a full power cycle by hard restarting your Xbox or PlayStation.

Here’s how to hard restart an Xbox console:

  1. Hold down the power button on your Xbox for around 10 seconds until the console turns off.
  2. Unplug the power cable for around five minutes.
  3. Plug the Xbox power cable back in.
  4. Press the power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.
  5. Launch Fortnite and hopefully, the ESP-Buimet-003 error will be gone.

And here’s how to power cycle your PlayStation consoles:

  1. Hold down the power button until the PlayStation completely turns off and the light stops flashing.
  2. Remove the power cable from the PlayStation for around 20 minutes.
  3. Plug the PlayStation power cable back in.
  4. Press the power button on your PlayStation to switch it back on.
  5. Launch Fortnite.

4. Sign out of Xbox or PlayStation account

Some Fortnite players have had success fixing the ESP-Buimet-003 error by signing out of their Xbox or PlayStation account and signing back in.

Here’s how to sign out and back into an Xbox console:

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  2. Select Profile & System, then hit Sign out.
  3. Follow the prompt to sign back in, entering your associated email address and password.
  4. Launch Fortnite.

Signing in and out of your PSN account is much the same, but changes slightly depending on the console:

  • PS4
    1. Press and PlayStation button and go to Settings.
    2. Head to the Account Management tab and press Sign Out.
    3. Once signed out, head back to Settings and then Account Management.
    4. Press the Sign in button, then enter your PSN email address and password.
    5. Launch Fortnite.
  • PS5
    1. Press the PlayStation button and head to Settings.
    2. Select Users and Accounts, Other, and then press Sign Out.
    3. Once signed out, launch Fortnite.
    4. Sign in with your PSN email address and password.

5. Clear local save game files & persistent storage

Clearing your local save game files and persistent storage is another solution to Fortnite’s ESP-Buimet-003 error code, so here’s how to do it on Xbox and PlayStation.

We recommend ensuring your console is connected to the internet before clearing local save game files, as they’ll be stored in the Cloud instead.

  • Xbox
    1. Ensure there’s no disc in the Xbox disc tray.
    2. Head to Settings and then All Settings.
    3. Choose System, Storage, and then select Clear local saved games.
    4. Press Yes to confirm, then restart your Xbox.
    5. Head back to Settings then select Disc & Blu Ray.
    6. Click on Persistent Storage and then Clear Persistent Storage.
    7. Restart your Xbox once more, then launch Fortnite.
  • PlayStation
    1. Press the PlayStation button and go to Settings.
    2. Head to Saved Data (PS4) or Saved Data (PS5).
    3. Select Console Storage, then Delete.
    4. Tick any Fortnite-related files and press Delete.
    5. Restart your PlayStation, then launch Fortnite.

In summary, Fortnite players should first check if the servers are fully up and running and if not, they should try restarting their console, doing a full power cycle, logging in and out of their account, and clearing the local save game files and persistent storage.
