Resident Evil is chock-full of easter eggs and references, but Village players have discovered that you can get your hands on a lightsaber, the legendary weapon of Star Wars’ Jedi – without mods.

Getting to wield a lightsaber in Resident Evil Village is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Resident Evil Village has already seen some insane mods from the community, such as Barney the Dinosaur chasing you around Castle Dimitrescu.

With the insane popularity of Star Wars, even making its way to Fortnite, you’d expect that a lightsaber mod would be one of the first items added. However, the developers have done the modders’ hard work for them and allowed you to equip a lightsaber in the base game.

Here’s how to get your hands on a lightsaber in Resident Evil 8: Village.

Star Wars Darth Maul

Thanks to YouTuber AshesWolf, we’ve got everything you need to know about equipping this elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

Here’s how to get your hands on it:

  1. Complete Resident Evil Village
  2. Purchase “The Mercenaries” mode from Extra Content Shop
  3. Complete all of The Mercenaries levels, reaching at least ‘SS’ rank
  4. Purchase the Special Weapon ‘LZ Answerer’ from the Extra Content Shop
  5. Find ‘The Duke’ in-game
  6. Scroll across to weapons and purchase LZ Answered for 200 Lei
  7. Equip your lightsaber and slice through Village’s monsters

It’s described in-game as a “next-generation weapon in development by BSAA with a blade made of charged particles that can slice through anything!”

Igniting the saber reveals its red blade, commonly used by the Sith, and if you hold the aim button, you can channel Darth Maul with its dual-wield capabilities.

As demonstrated by AshesWolf, the lightsaber makes short work of any enemy that crosses your path. It’s not as clumsy or as random as a shotgun and will serve you well in your fight against Mother Miranda’s cronies.

If you think you’re done with Resident Evil Village, it’s well worth returning to the game to wield this legendary weapon.

If you’re yet to finish the game, you can check out the best weapons Village has to offer, that sadly aren’t lightsabers.
