Gibraltar has received his own Apex Legends special edition which comes with two exclusive legendary skins, including the “King of the Sea” Gibraltar Skin. Here’s an overview of the whole pack.

Respawn Entertainment provide many of the Apex Legends characters with their own edition packs which come with some exclusive new items. This was the case for Lifeline, Bloodhound, Octane, and Pathfinder.

Gibraltar is one of the eight founding Legends in the game, and he’s the latest Legend to get his very own special edition pack. Here’s everything you need to know about it, from the release date to its contents.

How to get the Apex Legends Gibraltar special edition skins

You can get the Apex Legends Gibraltar Edition on PlayStation or Xbox by visiting the online store, and on PC by heading over to Origin or Steam. Once you’re at the Apex Legends add-ons section, you’ll see the Gibraltar Edition there.

After purchasing it, you will immediately gain access to the special edition pack’s contents. It contains a total of 5 items, including 2 exclusive skins:

  • Exclusive Legendary “King of the Sea” Gibraltar Skin
  • Exclusive Legendary “Terror of the Deep” Devotion Skin
  • Exclusive “Lone Shark” Gun Charm
  • Exclusive “Making Waves” Badge
  • 1,000 Apex Coins

Respawn also released the Mayhem Pack for Season 8, which includes an exclusive Fuse skin and 600 Apex coins, so you could try springing for that while browsing as well.

How much is the Gibraltar Edition?

You currently have to pay $19.99 / £17.99 to get the Apex Legends Gibraltar Edition, but waiting for sales is also an option. Some of the other Legends like Octane and Pathfinder had the prices reduced for their special edition packs on Origin.

Considering that the Legendary skin is extremely expensive on its own, combining it with the 1,000 Apex coins makes this is a pretty good deal. It’s absolutely worth saving up a bit to purchase the special edition for yourself.

You can also get yourself some cool recolored variants of classic skins at the ongoing Anniversary collection event in Apex Legends, so be sure to check that out as well.

When will Apex Legends next-gen PS5 & Xbox Series X/S versions release?

Apex Legends has been out for a while, and players are yet to see a next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the game, so far how off is it?

Apex Legends continues to do extremely well and is constantly growing, yet the absence of a complete version for next-generation consoles is a mystery. So when will we be seeing an upgraded version of the free-to-play battle royale on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?

With the launch of Apex Legends Season 11, Respawn’s incredible battle royale FPS continues to be a trendsetter within the industry. For nearly 3 years players have battled each other using a variety of weird and wonderful characters – with the most recent one being Season 11’s Ash.

But despite its ever-growing success and popularity, and the fact it’s been on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for a year now, fans of the game still have to contend with a backward-compatible version of the game.

So when exactly can we look forward to a fully upgraded version of Apex Legends for the newest generation of consoles?

When can we expect the next-gen version of Apex Legends?

Apex Legends all platforms

As of January 14, 2022, there has still been no official word from Respawn Entertainment regarding its update. However, a new leak has sprung hope for fans and players as it could actually be released very soon.

Renowned leaker Shrugtal has discovered files from a recent Apex Legends update that has hinted at the possibility of an imminent update.

The fact that the files now exist in the game is a very promising sign that the devs have got the build for the newer consoles ready.

With Ray Tracing, Adaptive Triggers, 3D Audio, 120 FPS, and a variety of other features possible thanks to PS5 and Xbox, Apex Legends players might finally be able to benefit from the power of new hardware.

How big are the next-gen versions of Apex Legends?

ps5 controller

In the latest leaks for Apex Legends’ next-gen versions, according to PlayStation Game Size, the PS5 version of Apex Legends will be “+80 GB (Without Update).” If this information is true, perhaps the next-gen versions will be out sooner than we think, perhaps even when Season 12 is released.

This is very reasonable considering all the improvements the upgrade is promising. Also, this is just the PS5, but considering the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Apex Legends are both nearing the 60-70 GB mark, we expect the next-gen versions to also be fairly close.

What features does Apex Legends have now on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?

Currently, players with a next-gen console can enjoy the last-gen versions of the game, with minor frame rate increase/stability in 1440p. Players with next-gen consoles can of course also experience the same crossplay capabilities as the previous generation, allowing them to play with all platforms.

However, without a truly optimized version of Apex Legends, we are yet to see the real graphical and performance potentially Apex Legends can provide on next-gen consoles.

120 FPS / 120 Hz

The PS5 and Xbox Series X both have hardware capable of 4K gaming at 120Hz video output. This ultimately allows next-gen consoles to start competing with PC gaming which, depending on the hardware, can run Apex Legends at an even higher frame rate of over 144Hz at 4K resolution.

PS5 DualSense, Haptic Feedback & 3D Audio

Perhaps some of these enhancements we will be seeing could include optimizing Apex Legends for the PS5’s DualSense, which takes advantage of the haptic feedback the next-gen console introduced.

Further, maybe Apex Legends will optimize its audio for PlayStation’s 3D audio function, which would greatly increase the dimension and quality of sound in the game. However these enhancements for next-gen consoles will come, there’s no doubt they will receive a warm welcome from the community.

Load times

A pretty straightforward aspect of next-gen, but an important one nonetheless, is the fact that modern hardware can almost eliminate loading times.

A huge selling point of the PS5 and Xbox Series X is their ability to process information, backgrounds, and everything else required in seconds. Apex Legends matches will be able to move along seamlessly and also allow players to jump into matches almost immediately too.

For those looking for even more improvements, hopefully, Respawn will officially announce something soon for release in 2022. For more news and guides on Apex Legends, check out our complete ranking of every Apex Legend.

Rampage nerfed upon return in Apex Legends Season 11

Apex Legends has a new update in Season 11, which sees the return of the Rampage, but with a different feel.

Respawn pushed a small update for Apex Legends on January 13, which sees the return of a nerfed Rampage.

Respawn Entertainment has finally fixed the Rampage and Sentinel and put them back in the Apex Legends loot pool with the latest January 13 update.

While many will be happy to see them back, the community may notice a difference in the Rampage, and that’s because it has been nerfed.

The Rampage has been causing a lot of controversy and frustration among the community during Season 11. Not only was the weapon extremely powerful and one of the best weapons to use in the game, but there was also an exploit that allowed it to stay charged up infinitely, making it overpowered.

It was removed in response to the exploit, but now it has finally returned and players may find it feels different. This is because the devs have decided to nerf the weapon, perhaps realizing just how strong it was during its time out.

The developers have decided to nerf the Rampage’s damage and thermite consumption per shot. This means that the weapon will not last as long as it previously did while charged up, as well as doing less damage:

  • Damage per bullet down from 28 – 26.
  • Thermite consumption per shot increased.

Although a lot of players enjoyed using the weapon, there’s no doubt that a portion of the community also felt the weapon was slightly too strong, so perhaps the community will welcome the change.

That’s all for the return of the Rampage in Apex Legends and subsequent nerf to the weapon. For more, check out the new Season 12 Hop-Up leak.

Apex Legends players are enjoying life without the Rampage

Apex Legends players are getting used to the Rampage not being in the loot pool, so much so that some are even enjoying the game more.

Since its temporary removal, Apex Legends players seem to be enjoying life without the Rampage.

Apex Legends hasn’t seen many changes since the start of Season 11. Apart from the recent Dark Depths event, which is basically just a sale, players have been awaiting new content such as LTMs for some time now.

Having said that, due to an exploit, both the Sentinel and Rampage were taken out of the game’s loot pool and it seems some players are enjoying the temporary change quite a lot.

apex legends season 10 rampage

Recently, players have been finding all sorts of tricks and exploits in Apex Legends. One of the biggest exploits that really affected the player experience was the Sentinel and Rampage infinite charge-up.

This exploit basically allowed players to keep both the weapons in their charged state for as long as the player wanted, which is of course extremely powerful. The devs responded fairly quickly by taking the weapons out of the loot pool across the game’s modes temporarily.

For some, this change has been enjoyed more than perhaps the devs expected, especially when it comes to the Rampage as this weapon is very powerful even without being charged up.

Reddit user Hartley672 put up a post with an image of a poll that asked the question “Is apex more enjoyable without the rampage?”

As you can see 40,000 people participated in the poll and 69% voted “yes.” Further, the Redditor who posted the poll also agrees with the majority and their post also has over 9,000 upvotes, showing just how many players are enjoying the game without the Rampage.

One comment under the post even stated: “I didn’t even realize they took the rampage out.”

Despite the poll showing a majority of players enjoying the game without the weapon, there is one group of players in particular that are missing the weapon. Rampart’s main passive is that she can hold more bullets in a magazine for LMGs and also reload them faster.

Rampart mains are the ones who are feeling the negative impact of the Rampage’s removal, with one user commenting: “I’m sad because as a rampart main I enjoy having a decent lmg.”

We’re sure the Rampage and Sentinel will be returning once a fix has been established by Respawn, even if the majority are enjoying life without it. For more, check out the leaked details for the Apex Legends Season 12 Collection Event.
