How to increase your Destiny 2 Gambit Infamy Rank: Tips, how to reset & rewards

You can earn some great rewards by increasing your Gambit Infamy Rank in Destiny 2, so here’s how to rank up and reset when the time comes.

The Drifter in Destiny 2

As you play Destiny 2’s Gambit mode, you’ll start increasing your Gambit Infamy Rank where you can earn unique weapons and armor. Here’s how to increase your Gambit Rank in Season of the Lost.

Destiny 2 retired the name ‘Infamy Rank’ with the Season of the Lost update, but old habits die hard, and this is what much of the player base still calls Gambit Ranks. This is the leveling system for Destiny 2’s competitive PvPvE experience – Gambit.

As you play matches of Gambit, you’ll start to earn Gambit Ranks which unlock bragging rights, weapons, and armor.

Here’s everything you need to know about increasing your Gambit Rank in Season of the Lost.

Destiny 2 Gambit Infamy Ranks

As you increase your Gambit Rank in Destiny 2, you’ll progress into different Ranks. There are six divisions, with the first five containing three subdivisions.

Once you reach Legend and achieve 10,000 Total points, you can reset your Rank and start all over again.

How to increase Destiny 2 Gambit Infamy Rank

Luckily, all you have to do is play Gambit to increase your Gambit Rank. You won’t lose any points for suffering a defeat, so it should be relatively stress-free. However, there are certain things you can do to increase how quickly you rank up.

Here’s everything you can do to increase your Gambit Rank quickly.

Win Gambit matches

This may sound like an obvious tip, but playing the objective and going for wins will vastly increase the speed at which you increase your Rank.

Losing games of Gambit won’t lower your Rank, but you’ll earn next to no Infamy, so you should really focus on playing for the win.

Rack up a win streak

Winning games will increase your Gambit Rank, but winning consecutive games will be a major help. For each game won in a row, you’ll continue to earn more and more points – up until five wins in a row where the max points are capped.

This is no easy feat, but players with the skill to pull off a win streak will be greatly rewarded.

Go in a Gambit Activity Streak

Destiny 2 highly incentivizes players to go on an Activity Streak. This is much the same as the win streak but isn’t dependent on winning games. You just need to keep queuing into Gambit uninterrupted, and you’ll continue to rack up points.

Play during Double Infamy weeks

Every once in a while, Destiny 2 will offer players Double Infamy weeks. There’s no confirmation on when the next will arrive, but it’s well-worth playing during these events.

How to reset Gambit Infamy Rank in Destiny 2

You can reset your Gambit Rank in Destiny 2 by speaking to the Drifter and claiming the Ascendant Shard.

Here’s how to reset your Destiny 2 Infamy Rank:

  1. Reach Legend and then hit the max level (10,000 points)
  2. Go to the Tower and speak with the Drifter
  3. Claim the Ascendant Shard

Once you’ve claimed the Shard, your Gambit Rank will be reset and the Ascendant Shard will be replaced with an Exotic Engram.

Here are all of the rewards you’ll earn for increasing your Gambit Infamy Rank. Some rewards can only be earned after resetting your rank, which we’ve marked in the list below.

Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking the Destiny 2 Last Word weapon, including the Exotic Cipher and Ascendant Shards locations.

The Last Word Hand Cannon is an extremely powerful Destiny 2 weapon, and here’s everything you need to know about unlocking it, including the Exotic Cipher and Ascendant Shards locations.

When you hop into Destiny 2, you’ll need to be properly geared up for some challenging battles. The good news is that the game features a wide selection of powerful weapons to choose from.

The Last Word Hand Cannon is an Exotic weapon that boasts a full-auto fire rate and increased hip-fire capabilities. If you want to get your hands on this gun, then this guide has you covered.

How to craft the The Last Word in Destiny 2

You can only get the Destiny 2 Last Word Hand Cannon from the Monument to Lost Lights weapon vault in the Tower. This vendor is located on the far right side of the Courtyard landing zone.

In order to craft the weapon, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 1x Exotic Cipher
  • 125,000 Glimmer
  • 200 Etheric Spiral
  • 1x Ascendant Shard

You can obtain Glimmers easily, and Etheric Spirals are given as rewards for every bounty you complete for Spider at The Tangled Shore. You can find both Exotic Ciphers and the Ascendant Shards prevent more of a challenge.

However, Exotic Ciphers and Ascendant Shards are a bit more difficult to acquire, and we’ll go over everything you need to know about collecting them.

How to collect Destiny 2 Exotic Ciphers

You can obtain Exotic Ciphers by either reaching rank 55 in the current Season Pass or purchasing them from Xur the merchant. You can still receive them as a seasonal rank reward even if you don’t have the Season Pass.

If you’ve already collected a seasonal cipher previously, you’ll need to complete Xur’s Xenology quest to earn another. This requires you to complete 21 strikes, or win matches in the Crucible or Gambit.

How to collect Destiny 2 Ascendant Shards

If you already have the paid Season Pass then you’ll get Ascendant Shards after reaching season ranks 80, 85, and 94. Alternatively, you can also purchase Shards from either Banshee-44 or Ada-1.

Here’s the general cost for each Shard:

  • 10 Enhancement Prisms
  • 100 planetary materials
  • 50,000 Glimmer

It’s worth keeping in mind that the planetary materials required for these Shards are random and change depending on the day. If you’re still on the hunt, then you’ll have a few different options for unlocking Ascendant Shards.

You can either complete platinum runs of Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes, make a flawless run in Trials of Osiris, or reach 10,000 reputation with either Zavala, Lord Shaxx, the Drifter, or Saint-14.

Once you’ve gathered everything you need, simply head back to The Monument to Lost Lights to collect the Last Word Hand Cannon. You can now use this weapon to cause some serious pain to your enemies.
