FIFA 23 closed beta

EA are giving a number of players the chance to play FIFA 23 early in a closed beta, here’s everything you know about how to snag a code and what to expect once you have access.

FIFA 23 is the last game in EA’s football franchise under the FIFA moniker before the series is rebranded as EA Sports FC. EA have promised this year’s game won’t be taking it easy, however, with two World Cup modes and new crossplay functionality being added.

FIFA 23 doesn’t hit shelves until September, but that’s not to say you can’t try out the new Career Mode and Ultimate Team features early.

In the weeks leading up to launch there will be a FIFA 23 closed beta where fans can take to the pitch in an early build. Here’s everything you need to know about the FIFA 23 closed beta.

When does the FIFA 23 closed beta start?

The FIFA 23 closed beta gets underway on Thursday, August 11 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM / EST 6 PM BST, with codes being sent out the day before so you can download the hefty 51GB file ahead of time.

It will then run until Thursday, September 1, when the beta closes and players have to wait until EA Play early access goes live.

How to get FIFA 23 beta codes

In order to be in contention for the FIFA 23 closed beta, you need to be a verified FUT Champs player or be signed up to EA’s mailing list.

Codes are only sent out to a select number of players, and there’s no way to guarantee for sure that you’ll be one of the lucky few. Participants are chosen at random so, unfortunately, it’s simply a case of waiting and hoping.

Most players will be relying on the EA mailing list, so here’s how to make sure you’re in the hat:

  1. Head over to the EA website
  2. Log into your EA Account
  3. Select your Email Preferences
  4. Tick the box to opt-in for emails from EA about news and services
  5. Make sure you’re using the email address that is connected to your preferred platform
  6. Check your emails/spam folder to see if you have a code

Which modes are in the FIFA 23 beta?

All players invited to take part in the beta will have access to a random selection of modes out of Career Mode, Ultimate Team, VOLTA Football, and Pro Clubs.

All players will be able to use the standard Kick-Off mode, usually along with one of the other major features like Career Mode.

You don’t get to decide which features you can play, they will be assigned before the codes are sent out. This means if you’re the only one of your friends to be given Pro Clubs, then you won’t be able to invite them to a game.

Can you share FIFA 23 beta codes?

Since codes are randomly distributed, there’s always the chance that a player will be invited to the beta but can’t make use of it for whatever reason. If this happens, you might want to send your code to someone who didn’t receive an email.

Sadly, all codes are tied to the account they are sent to, meaning they cannot be shared with friends.

We’ll be updating this page throughout the year as more information is released, so be sure to stay tuned for the latest details.
