The world of Atomic Heart is waiting to be explored, and players can preload the game two weeks ahead of its official release. Here’s everything you need to know about how to preload Atomic Heart.
Atomic Heart throws players into the vast open world of an alternate reality Soviet Union where robots are running amok, and players will be able to explore its lengthy story when it releases on February 21.
You’ll still have the opportunity to equip deadly weapons and take on a ton of challenging enemies in the world of Atomic Heart. The game is currently available to preload, and here’s how you can get this done.

How to preload Atomic Heart on Xbox
If you pre-ordered Atomic Heart on Xbox Series S|X then the game will automatically preload right now if you have auto-updates turned on. If not then you can visit the Game Pass library and pre-add Atomic Heart.
- Open up the Xbox Game Pass.
- Search for the Atomic Heart.
- Make sure you own a copy of the game.
- Hit ‘Preload’ to begin installing.
- Wait for Atomic Heart to unlock on February 21.
The size of the Atomic Heart update will be 78.66GB on Xbox Series X, so make sure that you have enough storage. If you don’t then you’ll first need to delete unnecessary apps and files that are taking up space.
How to preload Atomic Heart on PlayStation
While the developers haven’t confirmed exactly when you can preload Atomic Heart on PlayStation, it will likely be on February 18, three days before the release date. The process of preloading is similar to the Xbox version.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Head into the PlayStation or your game library.
- Search for Atomic Heart.
- Ensure you have pre-ordered a version of the game.
- Select ‘Preload’ to start the download.
- Wait for the application to unlock on launch day.
Can you preload Atomic Heart on PC?
At the time of writing, it hasn’t been announced whether or not you can preload Atomic Heart on PC. As soon as that information has been officially confirmed by the developers, we’ll be sure to update this piece.
Considering that the game has high-definition textures, detailed models, and well-designed environments, it makes sense why the file size is so big. Players can expect a ton of fun content when Atomic Heart is available to play.
Preloading the game right now will reduce the number of updates that must be downloaded on launch day. That said, you’ll still need to install the day-one patch when the release date of Atomic Heart arrives.
