Epic Games added a tactical sprint mechanic to help you make a quick getaway in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2, and here’s how you can use it on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 has finally arrived, and the seasonal update brought a plethora of fun new content for players to enjoy, including cosmetic skins like Doctor Strange and a new gameplay mechanic.

The tactical sprint function is a brand-new addition that allows you to get away from the closing circle and overwhelming enemies. If you want to learn how to perform this movement trick then we’ve got you covered.

How to tactical sprint in Fortnite

You can trigger the tactical sprint in Fortnite to temporarily move at a much faster rate of speed than normal, and this only requires a single button press which varies from one platform to another.

Here are the default tactical sprint buttons on each platform:

  • PS4/ PS5: L3
  • Xbox One/ Xbox Series X: Left Stick Button
  • Nintendo Switch: Left Stick
  • PC: Left Shift

If you don’t already have ‘sprint’ assigned to a key or button on your controller pad then you’ll need to set it up manually in your settings, as you won’t be able to use the Tactical Sprint function without it.

While this movement maneuver can be useful, you shouldn’t rely on it too much as it can only be used for a limited amount of time. You can check the bar in the bottom corner of the screen to check how long you can do it for and how long you’ll need to wait for it to recharge.

The tactical sprint will also automatically disable the use of weapons, so you can’t take out opponents when using it. Movement can make a big difference in combat, so be sure to sprint and use other mechanics like sliding wisely.
