Fortnite Battle Bus

Fortnite matches always start off on the Battle Bus, and you can show your appreciation by thanking the bus driver. Here’s how you can do that on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Mobile, and the Nintendo Switch.

There are various different activities that you can try out when you hop into a game of Fortnite, such as completing Punchcard Quests, bounties, and even going fishing. However, you always start off on the Battle Bus.

While most players tend to immediately jump out to land at their preferred spots, you can also thank the bus driver first. This was introduced as a fun in-joke back in 2018, and it has remained in the game ever since.

Here’s how you can do this on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Mobile, and the Nintendo Switch.

How do you thank the bus driver in Fortnite

If you want to show the Fortnite bus driver some appreciation then you’ll find that it’s actually fairly easy to do. You just need to press the button that brings up the Emotes wheel while you’re inside the Battle Bus.

Here is the button on each platform (depending on your configuration):

  • PC – ‘B’ on the keyboard
  • PlayStation – ‘Down’ on the D-pad
  • Xbox – ‘Down’ on the D-pad
  • Nintendo Switch – ‘Down’ on the D-pad
  • Mobile and Tablets – ‘Emote’ in the top right corner of the screen

Of course, if you’ve remapped the controls on your platform then they may appear different than above. If you aren’t sure what your emote button is then you can switch to default controls temporarily.

Once that’s done, the game will give you a little notification on the bottom left of your screen that you’ve thanked the bus driver. Your name will appear in orange along with anyone else who showed the same courtesy.

This is a fun little feature to have in the game, and in some seasons you also get rewards like XP boosts for doing this as part of a challenge. So, be sure to try it out the next time you’re on the Battle Bus.
