How to turn off cross-play on Apex Legends Nintendo Switch

Having cross-play enabled in Apex Legends can lead to a ton of technical problems on the Nintendo Switch, so here’s how you can turn it off.

Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch

Apex Legends fans on the Nintendo Switch can hop into matches with players on other platforms, but also have the option of turning off cross-play if they want. Here’s what you need to do.

Respawn Entertainment finally brought Apex Legends to the Nintendo Switch on March 9. Players on this platform received 30 free levels for the Season 8 Battle Pass, Double XP, and an exclusive Legendary Pathfinder skin

However, Switch players have noted that the battle royale is facing quite a few resolution and frame rate issues, which makes the game “unplayable.” Cross-play tends to leaves them at a disadvantage against players on other platforms.

Luckily, you can easily remedy this problem with a few simple steps.

How to disable Apex Legends cross-platform play

Apex Legends is completely free on the Nintendo Switch so once you have it, you will be able to battle other players on PC and consoles in the latest limited-time event, the Chaos Theory Collection Event.

If you want to compete solely against other Switch players, you can do easily get this done by turning off cross-play on the device. This is an easy enough process that takes only a few short steps to complete. Here’s what yo need to do:

  1. Go to the Apex Legends lobby
  2. Click the cogwheel on the bottom left to open the in-game settings
  3. Scroll down to Cross-Platform Play (Beta) and disable it.

Once that’s done, you’ll no longer search for lobbies on other platforms as you’ll be taken out of the cross-play pool straight away. In case you don’t see this immediately take effect, you should restart the game.

Now, cross-play lobbies will only match you up against fellow Switch players. While this has the adverse effect of longer queue times, you’ll also get improved graphics and frame-rates so that you can play properly.

However, this does reduce the potential amount of players for you to battle against. Since Respawn is currently testing the Apex Legends mobile version and are preparing a big patch with bug fixes, it might be a while before they can improve this.

Hopefully, we’ll see this problem fixed soon. We’ll keep checking for more content updates to the battle royale, and will keep you posted about these developments.

Apex Legends Season 14 will see a new Collection Event added during the season, bringing new content such as skins, LTMs, and a new Heirloom.

Apex Legends players will be gifted a brand-new Collection Event in Season 14, following the season’s successful launch and rise in popularity.

The Season 14 update brought a variety of changes and new content but Respawn Entertainment never stop there when it comes to a new season, as they provide players with plenty of events as well.

Every season players are gifted a new Collection Event, which offers new cosmetics and often a limited-time mode (LTM). With that said, here’s everything we know about the Apex Legends Season 14 Collection Event, including the leaks.

While players are yet to receive any official information regarding Apex Legends Season 14’s Collection Event, there have been leaks that suggest the theme and reveal the potential cosmetics players can expect for the event, including the Heirloom.

Apex Legends Season 14 leaked Collection Event theme

Apex Legends leaker Kralindo revealed some details on the Season 14 Collection Event, showing off datamined cosmetics as well as naming the event “Hunter Predator.”

This is not the official name and is just a leak so take this with a grain of salt, but the Season 14 Collection Event could be predator-themed, which would work nicely with the season’s title, Hunted.

Other renowned leakers such as Thordan Smash are claiming that the official Season 14 Collection Event name could be “Beast of Prey.”

Either way, both of these names fit with the season’s theme, so it’s possible this is what the Season 14 Collection Event could be called.

Apex Legends Season 14 Collection Event possible Heirloom

Along with the standard 24 cosmetic items available during a Collection Event, a brand-new Heirloom will be available for those who complete the collection.

While there is no official information regarding what the Heirloom will be, one of the devs has hinted at it possibly being Loba’s turn to receive one.

Apex Legends Season 14 leaked Collection Event skins & cosmetics

So far, there have been leaks from Kralindo that show off a variety of Season 14’s “Hunter Predator” Collection Event cosmetics.

Kralindo has leaked Epic rarity skins for Gibraltar, the C.A.R SMG, Longbow, Hemlock, and Wingman. As well as this, the dataminer also revealed a variety of Apex Legends Season 14 Collection Event Charms and Banner Frames for Lifeline, Horizon, Loba, Valkyrie, and Fuse.

That’s currently all that is known about the Apex Legends Season 14 Collection Event. Remember to take this all with a pinch of salt as the information is leaked and subject to change if Respawn so wishes.

When there is official news regarding the Collection Event from Respawn we will be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.

Apex Legends players convinced dev teased Loba Heirloom is next

An Apex Legends developer may have teased which Legend will be receiving an Heirloom in the Season 14 update.

Apex Legends players are convinced that a Respawn Entertainment dev is hinting that Loba is next in line for an Heirloom.

Apex Legends Season 14 is officially here, and while players are still getting to grips with Vantage and some of the changes made in the patch notes, many are looking forward to the next update.

A new season of Apex Legends means new events, which also means a brand-new Heirloom for one of the Legends without one. This season the new Level Cap increase means that all players have the chance to gain a free Heirloom, but which Legend will get theirs in Season 14?

In Season 13 we saw Valkyrie get her Suzaku, and it seems a dev has teased that Loba’s Heirloom is next in line.

Moy Parra, the Lead Animator for Apex Legends at Respawn Entertainment posted an intriguing gif and caption on August 13, which many believe is a major hint to who will be getting an Heirloom next.

The gif is of Loba, and the caption states that the Legend has been on the developer’s mind recently, perhaps suggesting that the devs have been working on the Heirloom, and maybe Moy has even been designing the animations for it.

Over on the Apex Legends subreddit, some have been highlighting this tweet, also believing that it could be a teaser for the “next heirloom.”

We’ll have to wait and see what the new Heirloom will be, but it’s not the first time we have heard rumors surrounding Loba’s, as leakers have previously suggested the design and release date of Loba’s Heirloom.

Apex Legends players want major changes to “worst” Battle Pass in gaming

Players have explained why Apex Legends has the “worst” Battle Pass in gaming and want Respawn to make some changes.

Apex Legends players are frustrated with the current state of the battle royale title’s Battle Pass, with some calling it the “worst” one in gaming and calling for major changes.

Each seasonal update of Apex Legends features a new Battle Pass to progress through and doing so will grant you a plethora of in-game rewards, including new cosmetic skins for your favorite Legends.

However, the Apex Legends community is not pleased with the game’s Battle Pass, as many players want Respawn Entertainment to bring some significant changes to its progression and rewards.

Reddit user ‘DudeWithName’ expressed their frustration with the Battle Pass, claiming that it “feels like a slog” to progress through and doesn’t have enough good content to justify how long it takes to unlock rewards.

When the Redditor asked other players if they find the Battle Pass enjoyable, many of them agreed with the post’s sentiment and shared their own criticisms in the comments of the thread.

One user expressed that Apex Legends easily has “the worst” Battle Pass system of any battle royale title that they’ve played, claiming that they find it extremely difficult to unlock cosmetics across the 100 tiers.

They then added that the only thing they look forward to is the Legendary Packs. However, the Redditor praised that you can earn more Apex Coins than you end up spending in the Battle Pass, describing it as the “only redeeming thing about it.”

Apex Legends Season 14 features a brand-new Battle Pass with a new skin for Wattson along with other free rewards, and the players in this thread were not impressed with the included content.

One of the commenters stated that they were only interested in the Legendary skins but even those weren’t that impressive. They then described all the other unlockable rewards in the Battle Pass as “junk.”

A common criticism in the thread was that it has too many “filler items” that players don’t care about. One user feels that season trackers shouldn’t be included as they become “obsolete” after the season ends.

They claimed that filler items from Siege and For Honor’s Battle Passes are better in comparison. So, players in the thread feel that removing these items and adding different rewards would incentivize them to progress through the tiers.

It remains to be seen if Respawn Entertainment will respond to these criticisms. Season 14 brought a major change to the Battle Pass challenges so that they will feature both a Battle Royale and non-Battle Royale option.

This was done to ensure that players can complete their challenges in each game mode. So, it’s possible that the developers will implement more Battle Pass changes in a future update, and we’ll be sure to let you know if they do.
