How to unlock Heirlooms in Apex Legends

Apex Legends Heirlooms are among the rarest items that you can find in the Battle Royale game. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Apex Legends players frequently try to unlock special cosmetic items for their characters, but none are rarer than Heirlooms. Respawn have added more of these to the game overtime, so you have a better chance of unlocking them.

Apex Legends has a plethora of amazing collectible content such as cosmetics. Some of the rarest items types that players frequently seek are Heirlooms. These unlockable cosmetic items are basically unique melee weapons for Legends.

These items are extremely hard to obtain. You have a less than 1% chance of getting them with every Apex Pack that you acquire. So you’ll have to be extremely lucky to get one without spending money on it.

Here’s everything you need to know about Apex Legends Heirlooms, including how you can unlock them for yourself in the game.

Mirage's Heirloom in Apex Legends

How many Heirlooms are in Apex Legends?

Initially, only one Legend had an Heirloom in the game, and that was Wraith. This was the case for a while after Apex Legends first launched, but then Respawn slowly brought more items for different characters in the game.

So far seven of the Legends have their own Heirlooms in the game, which come with their own unique items. Here are all of them:

  • Wraith – Kunai (A black blade with a glowing purple edge)
  • Bloodhound – Raven’s Bite (An axe with a glowing red edge)
  • Lifeline – Shock Sticks (A pair of defibrillator sticks)
  • Pathfinder  – Boxing Gloves (Blue boxing gloves with screens on them)
  • Octane – Butterfly Knife (A green knife with Octane’s signature stim)
  • Mirage – Too Much Witt (A golden trophy of Mirage)
  • Caustic – Death Hammer (A hammer shaped like a skull, equipped with gas)

Each of these is tailored specifically to their respective Legends, and look cool when equipped.

How to unlock Heirlooms

Initially, you would unlock Heirlooms by opening Apex packs, but you’d still only have a less than 1% chance of scoring one with each pack. You’d have to purchase 500 packs to ensure that you’d get an item, but the overall process worked at complete random.

However, the developers implemented a Heirloom Shard system from February 2020. Now you can save up the shards you receive to unlock a Heirloom set. This way you won’t have to worry about the spontaneous nature of the the process.

You can acquire Heirloom Shards by opening Apex Packs. You can earn packs by leveling up your account, but they are also available for purchase at $1.00 per pack. If you’re not willing to pay, then just keep playing until you eventually get one.

Heirlooms in Collection Events

Apex Legends collection events often unveil new Heirlooms as well. You unlock it by collecting all 24 items in the collection during the event.

After the event ends, the Heirloom will become part of the new season of Apex Legends. At that point, you will be able to obtain that item with shards, or in Apex packs.

If a new Heirloom is revealed in the upcoming Fight Night collection event, then it will be the third one to be introduced Season 7, following those of Gibraltar and Bangalore. If you’re willing to collect the items at the event, then you might bag yourself this rare collectible.

That covers everything you need to know about Heirlooms in Apex Legends. These items extremely difficult to acquire, which is why they’re highly sought after. So try getting one for yourself and who knows? You might just get lucky.

When is Apex Legends coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale excellence is coming to Switch, but when exactly is Apex Legends coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Published

on

Apex Legends is one of the world’s premiere battle royale experiences and it will soon be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. But when is the free-to-play behemoth expected to arrive on the leading handheld console in the world?

The battle royale market is ultra-competitive with so many top dogs and companies all vying for the top spot. You’ve got Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, PUBG, Hyper Scape, and lots of other mini-variants that are jumping in too.

But Apex Legends can still hold its head high and consider itself an elite member of this relatively new genre. Respawn Entertainment is trying to expand its audience and appeal to a wider demographic by launching Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch – just like Fortnite.

But how soon can we expect to be boosting around in the palm of our hands?

Apex Legends release date on Nintendo Switch

Now into its seventh season and still retaining a large portion of its fanbase, Apex Legends continues to grow and make its interpretation of battle royale must-play. The game has had a healthy run across the major platforms, and now it awaits its release on the Nintendo Switch.

The announcement of the game’s additional platform came all the way back in mid-June 2020 at EA Play Live. It was expected to become available in late-2020, but due to the unforeseen circumstances that have taken place in the year, Apex’s newest release has been delayed.

A recent statement from Chad Grenier, Game Director on Apex Legends, had this to say: “Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it’ll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.”

However, new information released on Monday, January 18, 2021 seems to have revealed the release date for the Switch version of Apex. In a new Stories from the Outland trailer for Season 8, the description on the YouTube channel in select regions (Japan, Spain, and others) says Apex Legends will be playable on Nintendo Switch starting Tuesday, February 2, alongside the Season 8 release.

Since our tweet, the references to the Nintendo Switch release have since been removed from the description of the YouTube video in all regions. Here’s what the description said prior to being removed:

We’ll continue to keep fans updated as the Nintendo Switch Apex Legends announcements happen.

Understandably the events of 2020 have taken their toll on the development of the Switch port and it has naturally caused the delay. Hopefully, development goes well and we can see the full release in 2021.

Respawn Entertainment dropped the latest episode of ‘Stories from the Outlands’ which revealed the release date for Apex Legends Season 8, as well as the new Legend, Fuse.

As we approach the end of Apex Legends Season 7, players have begun looking forward to what’s in store for Season 8.

Season 7 introduced a new Legend, Horizon, who can manipulate gravity, alongside the new map, Olympus. There have been leaks and rumors regarding Season 8, but on Monday, January 18, Respawn Entertainment officially revealed the next season.

Apex Legends Season 8 release date

Apex Legends Season 8, titled Mayhem, is set to drop on February 2, 2021, as announced by Respawn Entertainment.

The Stories from the Outlands video, “Good as Gold,” revealed the official release date of the eighth season.

Season 8 comes two days before the second anniversary of the popular battle royale game, so expect this to be a huge content drop. Season 4 dropped on Apex’s first anniversary, and it offered players an Anniversary Badge and XP to celebrate.

New Apex Legends character

In a slightly confusing trailer, “Good as Gold” introduced Apex Legends’ 16th Legend, Fuse. This Australian Legend favors explosives, with leakers discovering that he will have a Projectile Grenade and Fire Bomb.

We see Wally, nicknamed Fuse, discover a golden grenade alongside his friend, Max. The two grew up together taking part in dangerous missions, repeatedly stealing the grenade off of each other. Max hero-worshiped a group of freedom fighters from their planet, Salvo, but Fuse wasn’t interested in them.

Fuse gained fame in the fighting pits, much to his friends apparent jealously. Their friendship eventually ended after Fuse became the fighting pit champion and he revealed that he is leaving to join the Apex games. Max chucked the golden grenade at him, blowing off his arm. He didn’t seem to care and left Max behind.

A press release also revealed that the 30-30 Repeater Rifle will be coming to Apex Legends in Season 8.

As we receive more information about Apex Legends Season 8, we’ll be sure to update you.

apex legends season 8 teasers

As the end of Apex Legends Season 7 looms near, we are starting to pick up hints and teasers about Season 8. This includes the brand new Legend, cool new abilities, and even a new planet.

Respawn has done a great job with Season 7 of Apex Legends and are continuing to support it as it comes down to its last several weeks. The Fight Night Collection Event was another way in which the devs have been trying to keep Apex fans happy.

Now, we have several teasers that point towards crucial Season 8 information, including Salvo – a potential new planet in the Apex Legends universe.

Apex Legends Season 8 teasers

The social media accounts for Apex Legends have been particularly busy as of late. The official Apex Legends Twitter account posted a GIF captioned “New Blood”.

New Blood probably refers to a new face coming to Apex Legends. The GIF signifies the unity of Salvo and the Syndicate (in charge of the Apex games), with extra care needed for Salvo.

New planet Salvo

Salvo is another planet that has featured no connection to Apex Legends. But this teaser seems to suggest that this is changing. For some lore on Salvo, here is an official letter that was on Wattson’s desk.

“I am writing to inform you that Salvo – which rejected the Mercenary Syndicate’s position to join Syndicate Space in 2722 – is now being guided by new leadership sympathizers to the cause of peace within the Outlands.

Talks with this new administration was prolonged, but ultimately fruitful; as of today, the Mercenary Syndicate Treaty has been amended, and Salvo will become the seventh world to join Syndicate Space.

Salvo brings with it [redacted]. In the coming [redacted] Office of Public Relations will be rolling out a social [redacted] to dispel inaccuracies about [redacted] to create an appropriate [redacted] for their integration into the Syndicate, [redacted] including exciting new developments within the Apex Games.

At this time do not correspond with the Legends regarding this matter. Expect further instructions [redacted] our office in the days to come.”

We aren’t sure how Salvo becomes fully integrated into the new Season 8. It may be the catalyst for a new map down the line. For the time being, it seems to be the home planet of our next Legend…

Fuse in Apex Legends

Dataminers recently unearthed the potential identity of our new Legend for Season 8 – Fuse – and he is supposed to be an explosives expert.

That would explain the Salvo aspect with the word meaning a successive barrage of fire. The datamined info suggests that these will be Fuse’s abilities:

  • Tactical: Projectile Grenade
  • Ultimate: Firebomb

There have also been hints of Fuse’s Ultimate as well.

But a new teaser has also pointed towards some new Abilities heading for Season 8. Respawn recently gave players a welcome surprise by bringing back King’s Canyon and the Mirage Voyage point of interest.

In the special new mode, a teaser video shows some bombs on the map that can be triggered and explode to great effect. There are thoughts that these will be included in Season 8 and can be intertwined with Legends’ abilities.

How this will take effect we’re not sure, but this should all become more clear as we get closer to Season 8.

Season 7 of Apex Legends is scheduled to conclude on Feb 1st. Season 8 is expected to start soon after.
