Call of Duty returns to Steam with Modern Warfare 2, and players can already pre-order the game to instantly unlock rewards in Warzone. Steam users haven’t been getting these preorder bonuses but luckily, there’s a workaround.

Modern Warfare 2 finally arrives on October 28, and players can pre-order the game to get early access to the beta as well as bonus items in Warzone. So far, players can get their hands on the Final Judgement bundle, and Activision have confirmed there are still more rewards to come.

Call of Duty returns to Steam for the first time since 2017, and PC players are flocking to Valve’s platform to pre-order and play Modern Warfare 2 alongside their favorite games. Unfortunately, these bonuses aren’t appearing in their Activision accounts, but there are a couple of workarounds.

How to get Modern Warfare 2 pre-order bonuses through Steam

Thanks to Reddit user Battle111, here’s how to unlock your Modern Warfare 2 pre-order bonuses through Steam:

  1. Ensure Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is pre-ordered through Steam
  2. Log in to CallofDuty.com
  3. Hover over your username on the top right and click on Linked Accounts
  4. Under Gaming Networks, link your Activision account with Steam
  5. Once the accounts are linked, log out of CallofDuty.com
  6. Head back to CallofDuty.com’s sign-in page (Step 2)
  7. Use the Steam icon at the bottom of the page to log back in
  8. A green banner should appear telling you the pre-order items have been added to your account

If this doesn’t work, you should unlink your Steam account and repeat all of the steps again.

But if you’re still having no luck, some players said Activision support were able to help out after they submitted a ticket. “Couple emails later I had my stuff the next day,” explained Reddit user Greenyugi.

This will also unlock the Ghost Legacy Pack if you pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2’s Vault Edition, and there’s still a classic Modern Warfare villain set to arrive in Vanguard and Warzone.
