The recently-announced ZRG 20mm is a powerful, new Sniper Rifle is now in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2. Here’s how you can unlock CoD’s latest long-range behemoth.

The more the merrier, and that’s certainly the case when it comes to the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle. Black Ops Cold War’s Sniper Rifle selection is rather limited with only the M82, Pelington 703, and LW3 Tundra to select from. Whereas Warzone’s long-range battles are mainly dominated by the Kar98k.

The ZRG 20m is a 3-round bolt-action Sniper Rifle that can be unlocked for both of the leading Call of Duty titles, and the unlock requirements shouldn’t be taxing for anyone looking to add it to a loadout.

What you need to do to unlock the ZRG 20mm in Cold War & Warzone Season 2

The new ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle was officially released in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on April 7.

The weapon is live, and players will need to “Using Sniper Rifles, earn 2 Longshot medals in 10 different matches” to unlock it.

This follows a similar pattern to previously-added weapons as the Streetsweeper Shotgun added in Season 1 asked players to get a 3-Killstreak with a Shotgun in 15 different matches.

An important detail to note for unlocking the ZRG 20mm is that if you do earn 2 Longshot Medals in a single match, then you’ll need to complete the match and not leave early for it to count.

How to get a Longshot Medal

The name of the medal is actually quite self-explanatory as players will simply have to register an official kill from a greater-than-normal distance.

There doesn’t seem to be a set distance required as it varies across each weapon, but as long as there is plenty of room between you and your opponent, then it should satisfy the game’s wants.

Tips to earn Longshot Medals

We’ve come up with a few ways to make the task of getting 2 Longshot Medals a lot easier if you don’t consider yourself to be an expert marksman.

Here are our suggestions:

  • For Warzone players, drop into Plunder with a HDR or AUG if you don’t own Cold War
  • For Cold War players, do this challenge in Black Ops Cold War if you own it as it’ll be much easier than Warzone
  • Play in Hardcore playlists as the time-to-kill is greatly reduced due to limited health
  • Make sure to use the M82 as, even though it’s the weakest Sniper Rifle in the game, its semi-auto nature makes getting away shots much easier and offers forgiveness
  • If you’re confident in your Sniping ability, opt for the LW3 Tundra and use our loadout
  • Pick a map with some lengthy, open channels such as Satellite, Armada, Checkmate, or Garrison

Follow these simple steps and you will be the proud owner of Call of Duty’s latest Sniper Rifle to go and pop some heads with.

The 18.2″ Takedown Barrel will improve both the Assault Rifle’s effective damage range. This helps prime the weapon for mid to long-range combat where you need to pick off enemies from a distance by having the largest damage increase of all of the gun’s available barrels.

You can use the KGB Skeletal Stock to increase your sprint to fire speed, ADS firing move speed, and aim walking movement speed to help you aim and fire with incredible speed which is perfect for close to mid-range combat scenarios.

The foregrip will give you the biggest boost in accuracy when it comes to the underbarrel attachments and will help you land more of your shots than without it.

Perk 1 – E.O.D

It doesn’t matter how skilled you are if you’re caught off-guard by foes carrying explosives. Other players will attempt to blow you up while you’re in a good position during battle, so you’ll want to equip E.O.D to survive.

This perk allows you to tank huge amounts of explosive damage while you have your armor equipped. While you’ll mostly be fighting in medium to long-range combat situations, it still helps to be prepared for any surprises.

Perk 2 – Overkill

Warzone matches can have a variety of different tactical requirements, so you can equip this perk which allows you to select two primary weapons from any category. This means that you’ll be able to keep guns that are ideal for different situations.

Perk 3 –Amped

In case an enemy is able to sneak up on you in close quarters, you’ll want to swap to your secondary weapon before they have a chance to eliminate you. This perk makes switching weapons almost instant, which can be the difference between victory and defeat.

That covers our class setup for this powerful AR. We also recommend carrying some Semtex grenades to dish out explosive damage C4 to enemy vehicles. The Heartbeat Sensor can help you detect nearby foes, so you can strategize better.

Cold War’s Dark Aether camos & Gunsmith Customs coming soon to Warzone

Players looking to use their Dark Aether camos in Warzone are in luck, as support is coming.

Dark Aether in Black Ops Cold War

Raven Software has confirmed that Black Ops Cold War’s Dark Aether camos and Gunsmith Customs will be making their way to Call of Duty: Warzone.

For Black Ops Cold War Zombies players, the Dark Aether camo is a true mark of skill and perseverance, with players tasked with unlocking every skin for every weapon, in every class.

After going through all that effort, it’s no surprise that players wanted to be able to rock their Dark Aether camos in Warzone, something that so far has been impossible.

However, the studio’s creative director Amos Hodge has confirmed that the team is hard at work on bringing support for Dark Aether camos to Call of Duty: Warzone.

Treyarch first promised that support for these camos would arrive back in their Season 1 announcement blog post, but information on introduction has been minimal every since.

Raven has finally confirmed they plan to bring official support for Dark Aether camos to Warzone, but admitted that the studio would need more time to make it happen.

Hodge explained that there is “a lot of work” still to be done in bringing Cold War’s Zombies camos to Warzone weapons because of the differences in how some weapons look and feel once those camos are applied.

Raven also has confirmed they want to bring support to create and use Black Ops Cold War Gunsmith Customs weapons into Call of Duty: Warzone. Currently, Warzone only supports the feature with Modern Warfare weapons.

Hodge stated that the team “will get there” with these features but more time is needed to ensure they’re brought to life.

Unfortunately, Hodge didn’t provide a release date or a timeline for these features, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as the information becomes available.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Call of Duty: Warzone
