BlizzCon 2021 will be the celebration of 30 years for one of the world’s most recognizable video game companies. The 2-day event is a digital-only experience, and new details are expected on Overwatch 2 & more. We have details on how you can watch it.

It’s hard to truly measure the impact that Blizzard Entertainment’s games have had on the industry and society in general. They have created some of gaming’s most popular franchises of all time in Diablo, Starcraft, Overwatch, and the Warcraft universe.

Their 30th-anniversary celebration will sadly take place behind closed doors, and the two-day spectacular – referred to as BlizzConline – is expected to celebrate all things Blizzard. One of the most anticipated aspects of the event is hopefully the reveal of more Overwatch 2 details.

New Overwatch 2 expected to be announced

Even Blizzard couldn’t have expected the universally positive reception that Overwatch was going to receive. The game is heading into its sixth year, and the legacy it’s already accumulated is remarkable.

Blizzard has already confirmed that Overwatch 2 is not releasing in 2021, but the event is expected to release some new information on the game. We already know it’s expected to feature some new PvE content, and hopefully, they will expand upon this by letting us know how the game is progressing.

Apex Legends Season 14 is set to bring a ton of new content when it arrives on August 9, including the new Legend Vantage and major level cap increase that will help you get Heirlooms for free.

Now, some new leaks have reportedly revealed information about the next Collection Event in the game, including potential details about the next Heirloom that will be added for players to unlock.

They then tweeted screenshots revealing rarity skins for the Legends Fuse, Gibraltar, and Revenant as well epic weapon skins for the CAR SMG, Hemlock, and Wingman in Apex Legends Season 14.

This has caused speculation among fans about exactly which character will receive an Heirloom when Apex Legends Season 14. It’s possible that the developers will finally add one for Loba in the Collection Event.

Halo Infinite August 9 patch notes

The Halo Infinite August 9 update is adding a number of fan-requested features, included more Ranked options and greater customization.

Halo Infinite Spartans in multiplayer

Halo Infinite’s next major patch is set to drop on August 9, bringing a number of fan-requested features to the game including greater customization options and more variety in Ranked mode.

Halo Infinite Season 2 is in full swing, and 343 Industries are still working hard to help the game’s multiplayer live up to its promising start. After receiving critical acclaim at launch, the player count has declined due to the long waits between new content drops.

Forge mode and a rumored battle royale component are expected later down the line which should breathe life back into Halo Infinite, and the devs have filled the gaps with regular updates.

Next up is the Halo Infinite August 9 update, and we’ve got the full patch notes right here.

Halo Infinite August 9 update patch notes

Visor and helmet customization

A pretty common complaint with Halo Infinite multiplayer since its release has been the lack of customization options. The August 9 patch will offer more choices when it comes to creating Spartans, as players will be able to equip any visor they have unlocked to any helmet.

Prior to this update, each visor was locked to a specific armor core, meaning players often had to decide between the visor they had just unlocked and their favorite style of armor.

In addition to this, attachments for the Mark VII helmet will be equipable on any variation of the helmet, another option that fans have been calling for.

More Ranked playlists

Halo Infinite Ranked Doubles

According to 343 Industries, the August 9 update will: “Make it easier for us to implement more Ranked playlists moving forward.” At the moment, only Arena mode is available as a Ranked playlist, offering little variety to the game’s most dedicated players.

This patch will lay the groundwork for more Ranked playlists to arrive eventually, starting with Ranked Doubles two weeks after the update goes live. The devs have promsied even more to follow as long as “playlists continue to perform as expected.”

The foundations are also being laid to allow players to choose their matchmaking region later down the line. However, this is a feature that may not arrive for some time.

Changes to the pause menu

343 are also revamping the pause menu so that it displays active challenges during matches. Players have been calling for this quality of life feature for some time, so they’ll now be able to keep an eye on their objectives and rewards with a quick glance at the menu.

It’s worth noting that, for the time being, the screen won’t show how much progress has been made towards the challenges, in order to avoid confusion. Challenges currently update at the end of a match, so the data displayed mid-game would be out of date.

The devs have reassured players, however, that they are working on making challenges update on the fly, so they can expect to be able to check their progress in the pause menu in a future update.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet differences: Version exclusives explained

Here’s a breakdown of the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet exclusives and version differences to help make your choice easier.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet professors

For years Pokemon fans have used version differences to decide which of the two newly released games to purchase, and Scarlet & Violet should be no different. Here’s an overview of all the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet versions exclusives.

Dating back to the release of Pokemon Blue & Red in 1996, Pokemon fans have had to choose between multiple versions of the franchise’s mainline insalments. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will present the same dilemma to players as they welcome the ninth generation of Pokemon.

While most players are interested in discovering the version exclusive Pokemon that are attached to each of the games, Scarlet and Violet will introduce more version differences than ever when they release on November 18.

Here’s everything you need to know about the version differences between Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Scarlet & Violet exclusive Pokemon

Larvitar Pokemon Scarlet

It will come as no surprise to learn that box legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon will be version-exclusive Pokemon. Koraidon is the face of Pokemon Scarlet, while Miraidon is synonymous with Pokemon Violet.

These two legendary Pokemon will be your method of transportation around the Paldea region across the ground, water, and air. Make your choice wisely as you’ll likely be seeing a lot of Koraidon and Miraidon.

Scarlet exclusive Pokemon

  • Koraidon
  • Larvitar, Pupitar, Tyranitar
  • Stonjourner

Violet exclusive Pokemon

  • Miraidon
  • Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence
  • Eiscue

The Pokemon Company also confirmed that the pseudo-legendary evolution lines of Tyranitar and Salamence will be version exclusives. Larvitar will appear exclusively in Pokemon Scarlet, while Bagon will only be found in Violet.

In addition, generation eight Pokemon Stonjourner and Eiscue will also be version exclusives for Scarlet and Violet respectively.

We’ll keep you posted as more version-exclusive Pokemon are confirmed leading up to the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Paldea professors

Professor Sada and Turo Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

For the first time in the Pokemon franchise, players will have a different professor depending on the version they select.

Professor Sada seen on the left is one of the Paldea region’s two professors and appears in Pokemon Scarlet. Meanwhile, Turo seen on the right is the professor you’ll encounter in Pokemon Violet.

As you can see from the professors’ attire, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet seem to be setting up a theme of ancient vs modern. It remains to be seen how this will impact Scarlet and Violet’s gameplay but the environment and design of its characters could vary.

Scarlet & Violet academy and outfits

Paldea’s largest city in the region, Mesagoza, is home to the academy you’ll attend. Scarlet players will visit Naranja Academy, while Violet players will hone their skills at Uva Academy.

According to a Pokemon blog: “In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the name of the school, its emblem, its uniforms, and other details will differ depending on which game version you’re playing.”

The Naranja and Uva Academy uniform colors vary to match the respective title’s color theme. Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced the concept of version-exclusive gym leaders, and while there’s no sign of them in Scarlet and Violet, we’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light.
