Call of Duty’s Zombies mode has been a popular addition to several titles since its first appearance in World at War, but Infinity Ward confirmed the mode will be absent from Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty fans received a ton of new information to dissect on June 8 as details involving Modern Warfare 2 were released to the public. Expectations are high for the Infinity Ward developed title as new features like swimming and attachment tuning bring innovation to the franchise.

Players can also expect to enjoy two new modes called Knockout and Prisoner Rescue. We also know that Gunfight will be returning post-launch. While some classic Call of Duty modes will return, Infinity Ward confirmed that the Zombies mode will not appear in Modern Warfare 2.

Since Nacht der Untoten in World at War and Kino der Toten in Black Ops, Call of Duty fans have come to enjoy everything the survival-based Zombies mode has to offer.

While recent iterations of the mode have fallen below fans’ high expectations, some were hopeful that a Zombies mode would be included in Modern Warfare 2.

Most players would suggest that Zombies not appearing in an Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty title is obvious, but it wouldn’t be the first time this occurred. After all, a Zombies mode was included in Infinity Ward’s Infinite Warfare.

While there was always a possibility, it was truly a long shot and Infinity Ward have dashed all hopes after confirming that there will be no Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 2.

Infinity Ward have instead developed a new Special Ops mode, which has been their traditional “third mode” in the past. However, in Modern Warfare 2 players will have more than just three modes to dissect.

While there won’t be a Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 2, players will still have their hands full with the modes on offer. Classic multiplayer modes will be present along with several new modes. Furthermore, Warzone 2 is confirmed to have 2022 release date, and players will likely have a lot to discover with the rumored DMZ mode on the horizon.
