MultiVersus players have been wondering when couch co-op is set to arrive in the fighting game, and one of the developers has now provided an update.

Ever since the MultiVersus beta launched in July 2022, the free-to-play title has won over a large player base with its impressive collection of popular characters such as Batman, Bugs Bunny, and Superman.

While players are enjoying the content in Season 1, many have been wondering when the developers are planning to bring couch co-op to MultiVersus. Now, we’ve got an update about this.

Couch co-op games are ones that can be played by multiple people on the same system, such as Rocket League and FIFA 23. MultiVersus doesn’t have split-screen functionality and one player asked if the devs are working to add an online couch co-op feature.

This led to a response from Game Director Tony Huynh, who confirmed that this feature is on its way to the game but it will be “further out” as the development team currently have other priorities.

Huynh explained: “Our focus right now is stabilizing our experience. Netcode improvements, hurt/hitboxes, projectiles, platform interactions, etc.”

MultiVersus does support local play, so you and your friends can still play together in the same room on your own devices. You just need to send party invitations to them in order to play co-op together.

However, it can be a bit frustrating if you have only one method of playing and multiple people at home who want to hop into the game. Luckily, the developers are aware of this and the couch co-op feature is in the works.

At the time of writing, the developers haven’t revealed when exactly this feature will arrive in the game. Hopefully, we’ll see it added at some point during MultiVersus Season 2, and we’ll be sure to update you when it arrives.
