Is Fortnite dying

Fortnite has been one of the most popular video games ever, but is Fortnite dying? We’ve got all the statistics you need, including the 2021 Fortnite player count.

When Fortnite Battle Royale launched in September 2018, few could have imagined that it would dominate pop culture in the manner it has since then. From musicians like Marshmello and Ariana Grande to athletes like LeBron James, Epic Game’s free-to-play title has dominated gaming for almost three years.

Of course, it’s not just the stars that have flocked to Fortnite. The game’s free-to-play status meant that anyone could download, jump in, and play with their friends, and millions of gamers around the world have done just that over the years.

How many people have played Fortnite, though, and how many are actively playing in 2021. We’ve got all the information you need to know what the Fortnite player count is and if Fortnite is dying or not.

Unfortunately, Epic Games don’t keep track of how many players are actively playing the game at any one moment. Thankfully, there are some statistics that we can use to estimate the current Fortnite player count.

Using PlayerCounter, we can see that anywhere from 6 – 12 million people are playing Fortnite daily. This number increases on special occasions, like in-game events or new seasons, driving the number closer to 15 million players.

With this information, it is tough to say that Fortnite is dying, as it still has a considerable playerbase who enjoy everything the game offers.

Now, Epic Games does not regularly provide live updates regarding how many people have played or are currently playing. Still, there are some benchmarks that the game has reached since 2018 that give the community an idea of how large the Fortnite player count is present.

August of 2018 saw a Fortnite player count of 78,000,000, which is not surprising, as this was during the height of popularity during the game’s rise into stardom.

2019 saw a concurrent player count of 12,500,000 in the game, and 2020 saw a record-high number of people playing when 15,300,000 came together to experience the Galactus event.

2020 also saw Epic Games report that Fortnite had 350 million registered accounts. However, one player can create multiple accounts, so registered accounts do not exactly mean 350,000,000 players. A year later, that number has likely increased and could even be close to 400 million total accounts and would mean Fortnite is far from dying anytime soon.

A new leak has revealed that Epic Games are planning to add more crossover content in Fortnite Season 8, this time in the form of cosmetic skins from the new Dune film.

Epic Games often introduce new Fortnite skins that align with the release of major blockbuster movies, such as the Venom and Carnage skins that were were added alongside the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Now, the developers might be preparing another major crossover as some new leaks have revealed a few skins and cosmetic items that might be coming in Fortnite Season 8 alongside the release of the film Dune.

These leaks came from notable Fortnite data miner HYPEX, who shared images of the new outfits. The bundle will include the characters Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) from the movie.

According to these leaks, the Dune bundle will also include:

  • Twinblades melee weapon
  • Maker Hooks
  • The Stickworm wallpaper
  • Sand Walk emote
  • Fremkits for both characters
  • Ornithopter attack ship

The Bundle price in the leaked image seemingly costs 4,600 V-Bucks, but HYPEX has stated that this is just the placeholder price, and the real one might be different.

It’s worth keeping in mind that these are currently just leaks, and Epic Games have yet to verify this information, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, it makes perfect sense for them to add Dune skins around the film’s release in October 2021.

Fortnite Foundation comic teases exclusive Batman skin

Epic Games might be teasing a brand-new exclusive skin in the first issue of the Fortnite Foundation comic crossover.

Batman in Fortnite

Fortnite is doing another DC crossover in the Batman Fortnite Foundation comic, and Epic Games might be teasing an exclusive new skin on the cover of the first issue.

Fortnite has a wide assortment of skins for players to choose from, and the Batman x Fortnite comic crossover added the caped crusader and other DC characters to the Battle Royale.

The Foundation, the mysterious leader of The Seven and main figure in the Zero Point storyline, will be heading to Gotham City in the new comic, and we might be getting an exclusive new skin of the ‘Caped Crusader’ as well.

Armored Batman Zero Outfit in Fortnite

Notable Fortnite insider iFireMonkey revealed the cover art for the first issue of the one-shot comic titled “Batman/Fortnite: Foundation.” The two title characters are shown battling it out at the center of the art.

One thing that caught the attention of both Fortnite and DC fans was the lurking figure in the background of the cover. The design indicates that it’s The Batman Who Laughs, a version of Batman that was infected by the Joker toxin.

This has started speculation that this character would be an exclusive skin that will come bundled with Batman Fortnite Foundation #1 when it hits shelves on October 26.

While we don’t know much about the story of this new comic, physical copies of crossover comics usually have a code that players can use to unlock a new outfit. This has been the case with the previous Batman comic characters.

We previously saw characters like Harley Quinn and Catwoman join the fray along with Deathstroke’s glider. Epic Games might be planning to bring even more cool Batman-related skins in the game.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is currently just speculation. We don’t have any official confirmation from Epic Games about what new skin will be coming to the game next, but we might get some more info at DC FanDome this weekend.
