Is Rockstar working on a Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy?

GTA 6 is the game that every die-hard Rockstar fan is waiting for, but they may also have a GTA Remaster Trilogy hiding up their sleeve too.

gta remaster trilogy

Arguably the most anticipated game in the world right now is the unannounced GTA 6. But a big leak suggests that its delay could be due to a supposed GTA Remaster Trilogy that Rockstar is working on.

There seems to be a new GTA VI rumor each week that points towards a possible reveal for Rockstar’s next open-world extravaganza. We’ve recently covered several stories of this nature including a Rockstar employee having “unannounced titles” on their LinkedIn profile and a possible GTA 6 Super Bowl 55 reveal.

Now some new evidence is suggesting that it’s not only GTA 6 that is in the works. In addition to the next gigantic entry in the acclaimed GTA series, we could also be seeing a reimaging of the three main games from the PS2 era.

GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas

The three games that cemented Rockstar’s legacy are all getting the proper remaster treatment if a post on the GTA Forums is to be believed.

Mach1bud is a staff member of the forum and posted the message “Soon” which naturally piqued the interest of many of the members of the forum.

But the intrigue escalated very quickly when this message was posted, “Oh I know very well what forum I should be in and I know that you know that if I were to post these in those forums everyone would begin to know what we know. I’ve wanted this to happen for many years now and I’m glad it’s happening sooner rather than later.”

GTA Vice City

Naturally, the alarm bells started ringing and the message board became rife with rumors. This quote is also further supported by a tweet from @uNiGTANet – an Admin for GTA Forums – who posted a picture of three custom-made Shark Cards.

With closer inspection, you can see that the card numbers contain “2001” “2002” “2004” “2013” and “B46”. The first three numbers represent GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. 2013 is the year that GTA 5 came out, and the final three characters can be read out as “before 6” – as in GTA 6.

If it was anyone else who has posted this information then it may be misconstrued as mere fan speculation. But given that it’s coming from admins on the GTA Forums, then it does make you wonder.

If we do get GTA Remasters, will they come out before GTA 6?

Battlefield 2042: Release date, Portal mode, multiplayer, Beta, Specialists, Exodus film

Battlefield 2042 will release in 2021, and here’s everything we know about EA and DICE’s title including setting, date, gameplay, and leaks.

Battlefield 2042 key art

Battlefield 2042 is edging ever-closer, and we have everything you need to know about EA and DICE’s next entry into the legendary franchise, including release date, the game’s story, Open Beta details, Portal mode, and a lot more.

The franchise has remained pretty quiet since the release of Battlefield V back in 2018, but it remains one of the most popular FPS titles on the market. The series acts as the perfect alternative to the close-quarters combat of Call of Duty, bringing massive battles fought across vast locations throughout history.

After the disappointing reception to the Firestorm battle royale mode, EA and DICE decided to go back to the drawing board and try to rethink the different aspects of what makes BF so successful.

Finally, Battlefield 2042 was officially announced on June 9, 2021, giving us a look at some major things coming to PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4 & PS5 later this year.

Battlefield 2042 release date

Battlefield 2042 tank and players

Although DICE had originally announced an October release date for Battlefield 2042, they confirmed on September 15 that it had been delayed. The release date for Battlefield 2042 is now Friday, November 19, 2021.

Players who buy the Gold or Ultimate editions of Battlefield 2042 will be able to play a week earlier on Friday, November 12.

Originally, the developers had said we could expect a Holiday 2021 release, leading many to think it would be late November when it would launch, which is now a reality.

How to play the Battlefield 2042 Beta

Eager players itching to get their hands on Battlefield 2042 won’t have to wait as long as EA has announced that an Open Beta will be taking place.

It was originally said to release in September but is now expected to arrive in late September or October. With the announcement that 2042 has been delayed, Adam Freeman, DICE’s Lead Community Manager said that “New dates for the Open Beta will be shared later this month [September].”

There’s no word yet on how gamers will be able to access it and download it, but we will update you once we know more.

There will also be a Closed Beta for players that pre-ordered their copy of Battlefield 2042. This will likely be a few days before the Open Beta, and will further help to iron out the game’s kinks.

Battlefield 2042 anti-cheat

Given how much notoriety there has been surroundings other games such as Warzone when it comes to cheating and hacking, the term “anti-cheat” has become a big topic.

Activision is just finally adding anti-cheat to Warzone after a long time of fans and players desperately asking for it. A leak from industry insider Tom Henderson has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will have anti-cheat, and it will be using the same one as Apex Legends and Fortnite – Easy Anticheat.

Battlefield 2042 storyline

As you have probably guessed from the title, Battlefield 2042 is set in the future, with the world on the brink. Food, energy, and clean water are in short supply, and failed nations have created “the greatest refugee crisis in human history.”

Battlefield 2042 Support specialist

With the United States and Russia at war, Non-Patriated, or No-Pat Specialists join both sides, “not fighting for a flag, but for the future of the Non-Patriated in this new world.”

Of course, the game is set to be full of high-tech guns and gadgets. One of these futuristic weapons is the combat robot dog that Henderson had leaked. These are in use by the military today, but will perhaps be even more powerful in the near future setting of Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 2042 Exodus Film

On August 12, the official Battlefield YouTube channel finally dropped its promised “Exodus” short film to set the scene for the game’s story.

You can check out the full battlefield 2042 Exodus film below.

It saw the return of Irish from Battlefield 4, and throughout its 9 minutes and 6 second duration kept the action tense and exciting.

Battlefield 2042 Portal mode

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Battlefield 2042 was the unnamed [REDACTED] game mode. Whereas some of the other modes were revealed and described, EA decided to be a bit more secretive about one of the game’s modes.

At EA Play 2021 on July 22, the world was treated to the official unveiling of Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal mode.

A combination of previous Battlefield games, Portal looks set to offer the franchise’s most ambitious and frantic game mode ever!

Battlefield Portal El Alamein map gameplay

It will feature the following:

  • Content from Battlefield 1942, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042
  • You can play ‘Official Experiences’ or ‘Community Experiences’
  • Confirmed maps: Battle of the Bulge (BF 1942), El Alamein (BF 1942), Arica Harbor (Bad Company 2), Valparaiso (Bad Company 2), Caspian Border (Battlefield 3), Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3), and BF 2042 maps
  • Numerous weapons and gadgets from the mentioned games
  • Over 40 classic vehicles from the respective time periods
  • Custom game mode builder

Battlefield Portal looks like it has the potential to be one of the most fun modes the series has ever created.

Battlefield 2042 other multiplayer modes & Specialists: All-Out Warfare & Hazard Zone

different game modes that will be in Battlefield 2042

Multiplayer is the focus of Battlefield 2042, with three modes launching with the game in October, and more content to be added down the line.

All-Out Warfare

All Out Warfare is classic Battlefield described on the official website as, “The next generation of fan-favorites Conquest and Breakthrough features the largest Battlefield maps ever and up to 128 players. Experience the intensity of all-out warfare on maps filled with dynamic weather and spectacular world events.”

Hazard Zone

Hazard Zone is fixated on providing a proper squad-based game mode, and the full description of the mode says, “An all-new, high-stakes, squad-based game type that is a modern take on the multiplayer experience. Hazard Zone is distinctly Battlefield, but very different from the modes of All-Out Warfare.”

Leaks have indicated that it will be a mix of Hunt Showdown and Escape from Tarkov, and could be free to play.

For the first time, Battlefield 2042 introduces Specialists, who each come with their own skills, traits, and abilities – like Rainbow Six Siege. There will be 10 at launch, with EA and DICE set to add a new Specialist every season.

Battlefield 2042 Guns & Attachment Plus System

Battlefield 2042 Vehicles

Is Battlefield 2042 cross-plaftorm?

battlefield 2042 vehicle gameplay

DICE has confirmed that yes, Battlefield 2042 will feature cross-play and cross-progression! In a briefing on July 14, DICE revealed that they are working on a cross-play system, which will be tested later in Summer.

The following systems will be able to matchmake together:

  • PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 consoles
    • PC and console can opt-out from playing together
  • Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles

Battlefield 2042 will also feature cross-progression, allowing you to keep your progress and purchases when switching systems. The example they gave was that a player could switch from PS4 to PC and keep everything they unlocked, and vice versa.

Will Battlefield 2042 have a battle royale?

The appetite for a battle royale is certainly there, with popular streamer Dr Disrespect clearly excited by the prospect, but unfortunately, EA and DICE have confirmed that Battlefield 2042 does not have a battle royale at launch.

Whether they will add one further down the line remains to be seen, but for now, we’ll have to wait and see if any further announcements are made.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm

Will Battlefield 6 be on PS4 and Xbox One?

Yes! In an investor earnings call on May 11, EA boss Andrew Wilson said that “Battlefield will be available for both current-gen and next-gen.”

After DICE said the game will be “brought to life” with the “power” of next-gen consoles, many presumed that the game would only release on the Xbox Series X|S and PS5, but we now know this is no longer the case.

Playing on a last-gen console does come at a cost though, as EA and DICE have confirmed that players on Xbox One and PS4 will play in smaller lobbies and on scaled-back versions of the maps. However, it will still feature the same classes, gadgets, and game-changing weather effects.

To be clear, the game will drop on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Halo Infinite Campaign: Gameplay & storyline

Master Chief’s journey continues in Halo Infinite – here’s everything we know about where the new campaign will take him.

Master Chief in front of Zeta Halo

Halo is known for its competitive multiplayer mode, but for many fans, it’s the epic campaigns that keep them hooked on the series. Where will Halo Infinite’s story take us, and how will it play? We’ve got all the details here.

Halo Infinite has run into some trouble over the course of its development. The game was delayed before its December 8, 2021 release date was confirmed, and it won’t be launching with Forge or co-op Campaign.

Thankfully, these setbacks haven’t dampened the excitement for the next chapter of Master Chief’s story in the new game. Here’s everything we know about Halo Infinite’s Campaign.

Master Chief in Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite Campaign storyline

Halo Infinite’s single-player is set to pick up three years after the events of Halo 5: Guardians, and be the continuation of the Reclaimer story started by 343 in Halo 4. Iconic protagonist Master Chief is said to be playing a more significant role than in the previous game.

The story will follow on from the AI Cortana taking control of the galaxy using Guardians, the ancient Forerunner war machines. Chief will find another AI called “The Weapon,” who hints that the original Cortana was erased and replaced.

Footage we have seen from the game hints that Chief will start the Campaign floating through space near the Zeta Halo, where he will be saved by a UNSC soldier known only as “The Pilot.”

Much of the game is expected to center around battling the Banished on Zeta Halo, trying to find a way back to earth, and unraveling the mystery surrounding Cortana and The Weapon.

Halo Infinite Campaign gameplay

Concrete details surround Halo Infinite’s campaign have been relatively scarce, but we do know that it is set to shake up the linear formula found in previous installments.

Infinite looks to be opting for a more open approach, featuring a series of diverse sandboxes to dive into. From the gameplay we’ve seen, it looks as though players will be free to explore the various regions of the Zeta Halo map, rather than playing through rigid missions.

The different maps are said to be tied together by the game’s narrative, meaning that each area will likely have a number of missions to finish before the story takes players to the next map.

This change in approach also opens the door for more side objectives to complete in between story missions. A map screen shown at E3 in 2020 seemed to show open-world staples like bounties and outposts to take on.

That was everything we know about Halo Infinite’s Campaign. We’re expecting more details to be revealed closer to launch, so stay tuned on Charlie INTEL for future updates.

How many people play Battlefield 5? 2021 player count

Ever wondered how active Battlefield 5’s playerbase is? Check out how many people are playing Battlefield 5 in 2021.

Soldiers in Battlefield 5

With Battlefield 2042 set to release this year, Battlefield V has received a player resurgence, so we’re taking a look at how many people are playing 2018’s WW2 Battlefield in 2021.

Although Battlefield 2042 has just been delayed, players are still extremely hyped for the latest game in the franchise. This has brought players back to the previous titles, as they’re looking for the large-scale sandbox fix that no other FPS game can offer.

Battlefield 5, the most recent entry in the franchise, has seen a particular resurgence, with it having the most up-to-date graphics and mechanics that the series can offer.

Here’s how many people are playing Battlefield 5 in 2021.

Battlefield 5 2021 player count

Battlefield 5 Firestorm players fighting helicopter

Battlefield V is available across Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Origin, so there is a healthy pool of platforms to play the game on.

According to the website, which collates data from all around the web, there was an average of 28,178 Battlefield 5 players across August and September 2021. This number has been gradually rising since June 2020, where Battlefield 5 averaged 21,379.

The website also estimates that there have been 49,807 Battlefield 5 players in the last hour (September 16), which is well above the average.

Battlefield 5 player count comparison

Battlefield 4 campaign gameplay

It’s worth comparing Battlefield 5’s player count to the other Battlefield titles that are available. Battlefield 1, the title before 5, has had an average of 7,106 Steam players in the past 30 days.

Battlefield 4, perhaps the game that will resemble 2042 the most, has had 5,072 Steam players in the past 30 days. Of course, these numbers are likely to be higher with other users playing on Xbox, PlayStation, and Origin.
