JGOD explains why the OTs 9 is still Warzone’s best SMG
Close-range SMG’s are a go-to for many Warzone players in Season 5, and the OTs 9 and Cold War MP5 are the two most popular. CoD expert JGOD has explained why the OTs is still the top dog, despite its recent nerf.
Warzone Season 5 is starting to wind down ahead of Season 6. But many players are still on the hunt to find the perfect loadout to fit this season’s meta.
SMGs are perfect for close-range combat thanks to their blistering fire rate and mobility, making them an ideal secondary for a Sniper class.
According to CoD YouTuber JGOD, despite its recent nerf, the OTS 9 is still the SMG you should opt for – especially if you use a controller.
In a recent upload to his channel, JGOD extensively tested the OTs and the Cold War MP5 – the two most popular SMGs in Warzone Season 5.
In the recent nerf to the OTs, Raven Software reduced the weapon’s damage, increased the recoil, and buffed its headshot multiplier.
But despite this, the YouTuber has urged players to stick with it using the following loadout, which is focused on buffing the time-to-kill (TTK).
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 8.1” Task Force
- Ammunition: VDV 40 Rnd Fast Mag
- Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap
- Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
To come to this conclusion, JGOD compared everything from the TTK to the strafe speed of both weapons and collected the data in the spreadsheet pictured below.
The MP5 came out on top in many of the key areas such as damage per mag and movement speed. However, the OTs has a couple of tricks up its sleeve that the Warzone expert believes give it the edge.
He says that the impressive reload time, recoil control, strafe speeds, and iron sights are what make the OTs the best SMG in the game. In these areas, it dominates the MP5, while the Cold War weapon only just wins its categories.
JGOD argues that paired with the loadout that buffs the TTK, the OTs is easier to handle, does more than enough damage, and allows for an insane amount of movement.
The recoil control, in particular, is what makes this gun ideal for controller players, as it can be far tougher to keep shots in check on than with a mouse and keyboard.
That was JGOD’s explanation on why the OTs 9 is still the king of the Warzone SMGs.
