JGOD reveals the best Warzone short-range meta gun for Caldera & Rebirth Island
After March 30 Warzone update, players might be stuck on which close-range weapons to run in matches. Luckily, CoD expert JGOD has broken down the short-range meta, revealing the number one gun in the game right now.
Warzone Season 2 Reloaded shook up the meta in a big way, bringing buffs and nerfs to many of the game’s weapons, and throwing the brand-new Armaguerra 43 SMG into the mix. Smaller updates since have ushered in even more changes, so players might be confused as to which guns are most viable.
The short-range meta is one of the most fiercely contested in all of Warzone, as players desperately hunt for the perfect pairing to their Sniper Rifle or Assault Rifle.
Don’t worry though, CoD YouTuber JGOD has revealed the best weapon for short-range encounters on both Caldera and Rebirth Island.
In his April 3 video, JGOD pitted all of the weapons that are suitable in tight spaces against one another, comparing everything from the damager-per-mag to the time-to-kill (TTK).
He revealed that the JAK-12 is currently the strongest Warzone weapon at short-range, thanks to its “broken” TTK in both modes. The Modern Warfare Shotgun has a TTK of 500 and 400 on Caldera and Rebirth respectively, which is way under the average of 667 and 568.
Before you jump straight in and use the JAK-12, JGOD warned that players need to be accurate. “You can’t aim down sight so, if you’re on controller, the aim assist is going to feel a little weaker,” he explained. “You’ve gotta be pretty precise with your shots in hipfire.”

If the JAK-12 isn’t right for you, JGOD also outlined some SMGs that are solid options for those in need of something fully automatic. In fact, the MP40, Type 100, Armaguerra 43, and Owen Gun were all tied in the rankings.
The Vanguard MP40 remains one of the easiest weapons to use that Warzone has to offer, while the Type 100 is harder to keep under control but “melts” thanks to its impressive TTK and damage-per-mag.
With the Armaguerra 43, JGOD felt its lightning-fast reload speeds made it ideal for solos. Finally, the Owen Gun has some tricky recoil to deal with, but its devastating damage-per-mag made it well worth the risk.
