The landslide results of a poll suggest that the majority of Call of Duty players want a forgotten feature to make a comeback in Modern Warfare 2.

Excitement for the October 28 release of Modern Warfare 2 is beginning to build as the Call of Duty community gets set to welcome the new title. Players will get their first look at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer when the beta becomes available on September 16.

Speculation is already running rampant amongst eager fans as they attempt to predict the new weapons, Perks, and maps they’ll get to experience via the beta. The beta will also likely reveal if Modern Warfare 2 will have a map voting system.

Only time will tell if the map voting feature will return in Modern Warfare 2, but it seems Call of Duty fans are desperate to see it make a comeback.

A poll posted to the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit asked players “which kind of map voting system do you want in MW2.” Players could choose from three previous map voting systems that appeared in CoD games or a fourth option titled “no map voting.”

As of writing, 92.3% of players who participated in the poll want to see some form of map voting return in Modern Warfare 2. Only 7.7% of players claim that they’d like to see Vanguard and Modern Warfare 2019’s absence of a map voting feature continue.

While players debated which map voting system was the best, it was clear that most players were desperate for the feature to return: “I’d take anything at this point.”

It seems map voting was a hot topic in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit as another post with over 400 upvotes also touched on the topic. Once again, most players were in agreement that the feature should make a comeback in Modern Warfare 2.

While players want the feature to return, many are cautious about reintroducing the system haphazardly, as the OP explains, “I know it has flaws.” Players voiced their concerns about a system that would only rotate two or three preferred maps, pushing the less favored map into non-existence.

The most well-received suggestions to combat this hypothetical predicament were systems that introduced voting for a random map as well as ensuring that the previous map would be out of the rotation for the following game.

One player believes that the MW3 method was the best thus far: “MW3 system was the best IMO. You can’t pick the previous map = no small maps flood in a roll.”

Another player doubled down on the risk-reward that must be present in a Modern Warfare 2 map voting system: “Here is the map and mode, wanna play it? No? Okay, then here’s a random map/mode and you’re playing it no matter what. Full voting just means you’re playing Shoothouse/Nuketown/etc every game.”

It seems players have given a ton of thought about how to best reintroduce map voting to Call of Duty. As it stands it seems unlikely that Modern Warfare 2 will feature a map voting system, but given the widespread interest in the feature, we’ll let you know if that changes.
