Makasura Shrine “An Upright Device” puzzle solution in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Once you enter the Makasura Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll see the challenge titled ‘An Upright Device’. Since the room you enter seems to be empty, that title is a great hint to know what to do first. If you look up, you’ll see a platform you can use Ascend on.
Once you reach the upper level, you’ll see an L-shaped grate with a Zonai device attached to it. You can try different approaches here, but the main goal is to cross the gap and reach the other side. If you move the grate and activate the Zonai device, you’ll be able to climb it to paraglide to the other side. There’s an extra Zonai device you can attach to the other end of the grate to make a floating bridge if you prefer.
Once you reach the next area, you’ll find another L-shaped grate. Here, you can move that grate close to the bars and activate the Zonai upright device to make it a surface you can Ascend on. Once you reach the other side of the bars, you’ll need to attach all the different pieces you see together.
Attach the upright device on the opposite end of the bowl and place it next to the bars. Then put the ball inside the bowl. Once you activate the Zonai device, the grate will elevate and launch the ball so you can move forward.
Before you leave this room, however, look for a treasure chest inside the gated area. You’ll find the chest up on a ledge over the bars, but you’ll need to launch yourself onto this ledge the same way you did with the ball. You’ll find a Fairy Tonic inside the chest.
The next room is the last one and will task you with doing something similar. This time, however, you’re going to launch yourself. You’ll see a grate with a bowl and another L-shaped grate.
Attach the opposite side of the bowl to the shorter side of the L-shaped grate using Ultrahand. Then, add a Zonai device to the L-shaped grate. You’ll need to step into the bowl and shoot an arrow to activate it.
Alternatively, hitting any part of your new contraption can also activate the upright device. Once you’ve launched in the air, glide to reach the other side and claim your Light of Blessing.
And there you have it, another Shrine done. For more Tears of the Kingdom content, check out our other guides:
