Lobbies disbanding in Black Ops Cold War Beta

One of the changes fans are already noticing in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Beta is in relation to lobbies.

After a match finishes, previous Call of Duty games prior to Modern Warfare would keep lobbies together. Modern Warfare changed the setting to disband lobbies after every match, which caused a lot of frustration for players. Players wanted to go up against the same group sometimes, especially after a close match up.

In Black Ops Cold War’s PS4 Alpha, lobby functionality was operating similar to that of previous Black Ops games: lobbies would stay together through multiple games, until you left.

Now, in the beta, that appears to have changed.

In the Beta, after every match ends, lobbies are being disbanded. Once we got done with a few games, it takes us back to search for a match with the lobby emptied out.

That was not the case in the Alpha.

It’s not clear as to why Treyarch ended up making this change for the Beta. There’s been rumors of lobbies disbanding and a connection to Skill Based Matchmaking, but that’s not been ever officially confirmed.

The Black Ops Cold War Beta is live on PS4 in early access with Open Beta on PS4 to follow on October 10.
