How to get and upgrade MUT Captains in Madden 25

A new season of Madden Ultimate Team means a new set of MUT Captains, and Madden 25 offers five choices at launch.

MUT Captains are the cornerstone of your team. These cards can be upgraded over the course of the game’s cycle, with each upgrade unlocking new slots. To get these cards, you’ll have to progress through the Captains Field Pass which is separate from the standard Season Field Pass.

How to unlock Team Captains in Madden 25

MUT Captains can be unlocked at the following levels in the Captains Field Pass:

• CB Troy Vincent – Level 2
• C Jeff Saturday – Level 4
• TE Jason Witten – Level 6
• MLB Manti Te’o – Level 8
• HB Mike Tolbert – Level 10

To earn progression in the Captain’s Field Pass, you’ll need to complete a set of Objectives. After unlocking the first captain at Level 2, add the card to your starting lineup and use it to complete Feats. Here are all the available Objectives and Feats in the mode:

• Win 10 games (1,500 XP)
• Get 10 sacks (1,500 XP)
• Get six interceptions (1,500 XP)
• Score 150 points (1,500 XP)
• Score 10 field goals (1,500 XP)
• Force 10 fumbles (1,500 XP)
• Get Team Tackles with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode
  • Get 150 Team Tackles (1,500 XP)
  • Get 300 Team Tackles (1,500 XP)
• Record Rushing Yards with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode
  • Rush for 1,500 Yards (1,500 XP)
  • Rush for 3,000 Yards (1,500 XP)
• Record Passing Yards with a Team Captain in the lineup in any game mode
  • Pass for 2,000 Yards (1,500 XP)
  • Pass for 4,000 Yards (1,500 XP)

How to upgrade MUT Captains

Captains can be upgraded using Captain Upgrade Tokens. You can collect these items through the Captain’s Field Pass and use them to increase the OVR of your preferred player. You’ll need five Upgrade Tokens to bump your 78 OVR MUT Captain up to 83 OVR, which is the current rating cap.

As for which player you should invest your tokens in, we recommend opting for either Jeff Saturday or Troy Vincent. The former Colts’ center is a solid addition to any offensive line and his attributes will only improve with further upgrades.

Vincent, on the other hand, can turn into a formidable cornerback with the OVR boost. With 81 Speed, 79 Acceleration, and 80 Man Coverage, the CB will give any wide receiver a tough time.
