Madden 24 players aren’t satisfied with the game’s development by EA Sports, and a sales statistic for the year 2023 was a harsh blow for them.

For a game like Madden 24 to be among the best-selling titles of 2023 is a significant success for the development team, and it should also be a source of pride for the game’s community as it represents a collective achievement.

However, Madden 24 players have been disappointed to learn that the title ranked as the third best-selling game in the USA during 2023, trailing behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Hogwarts Legacy, which claimed the top spot, dethroning Activision.

Upon learning this, the Madden franchise community wasted no time in sharing their thoughts. Reddit user ‘lopey986’ expressed, “Nothing will change.”

The Madden 24 community is constantly complaining about the increasing number of bugs and new errors that appear in the game after each update. However, they believe that the reason Madden 24 became one of the best-selling games in 2023 is the lack of competition, “It’s monopolized.”

A user commented on this and proposed a possible solution: “What’s the competition? Retro bowl? Wild card football? These are fun but they are not replacements. The NFL just needs to modernize and change up the licensing.”

Many fans agree that the monopoly issue with Madden is due to the exclusive licensing agreement that the NFL grant to EA Sports. They dream of seeing various developers like 2K Games or San Diego Studios competing for those rights.

However, a user asserted that “NFL makes more money having EA fork over 1 billion dollars for exclusive ‘sim game rights’ over EA & 2K competing to make better games.”

“Great job showing EA they can ‘make’ a profit selling a broken game, again!” commented a user, as this is not the first time a game from the Madden franchise ends up in the top 3, but the fourth time in the last five years. It’s also the fourth consecutive year that Madden is the best-selling sports game in the USA.

Finally, the community seems to not lose hope each year, and despite the errors and bugs, they get excited again for a completely revamped game whenever EA Sports announce a new installment.
