EA Sports confirmed that Madden NFL 25 is on the horizon, and NFL fans are already celebrating the news as if their team won the Super Bowl.

Here’s everything you need to know about the next title in the EA Sports franchise, including the release details and who is the cover star.

Madden NFL 25 release details

Madden NFL 25 will be released on August 16, 2024. This was confirmed by EA Sports after announcing the pre-order bonuses on June 11.

Fans who pre-order the Deluxe Edition before August 1, 2024, will have the opportunity to play up to three days early on August 13.

Cover Athlete

EA Sports confirmed that Christian McCaffrey is the cover athlete for Madden NFL 25’s Standard and Deluxe editions. The San Francisco 49ers’ Running Back had an outstanding 2023/24 season that earned him the Offensive Player of the Year award and led the 49ers to their 8th Super Bowl.

All Madden NFL 25 editions

Madden NFL 25 has two editions: Standard and Deluxe.

The Standard edition costs $69.99 / £69.99 and includes the base game along with some bonuses for current-gen console players. Meanwhile, the Deluxe edition costs $99.99 / £99.99, granting players 3-day early access and many in-game bonuses, in addition to the content of the Standard edition.

However, if you’re also a fan of college football, you can pre-order the MVP bundle featuring the Madden NFL 25 Deluxe edition and the EA College Football 25 Deluxe Edition. This bundle costs $149.99 / £139.99 and features exclusive Madden NFL 25 and EA College Football 25 in-game content.

Game Modes

EA have confirmed that Madden NFL 25 will feature the classic game modes from the franchise: Ultimate Team, Franchise, Superstar, and Head-to-Head (H2H).

The dev team also revealed that Franchise Mode will be revamped, although they have not yet disclosed what these changes will entail. We’ll make sure to update this section once EA reveal the details of the revamped Franchise Mode.

Platforms

Madden NFL 25 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players will once again be left out, as the game is not listed as being available on that platform.

Crossplay

Madden NFL 25 will have crossplay across all game modes only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This means that players on these platforms will be able to play with or against friends who have the game on another platform.

As with most games, this feature is optional, so you can choose whether to participate in the crossplay matchmaking pool or limit yourself to facing players on your own platform.

Lastly, EA highlighted that if you opt into the crossplay matchmaking pool, you’ll notice significantly shorter wait times for finding matches compared to playing against players on your same platform only.

Trailers

On June 20, EA Sports released the much-anticipated Reveal Trailer for Madden NFL 25 on their YouTube channel. In the video, the devs listed the main features that Madden 25 brings compared to the last installment released in 2023.
