Before jumping to the brewing recipe for the Potion of Invisibility, let’s learn how to obtain all the necessary ingredients:
How to make a brewing stand in Minecraft
You can make a brewing stand in Minecraft with three pieces of cobblestone and a Blaze Rod. While cobblestone is one of the most common resources in the Overworld, Blaze Rods are exclusively dropped by Blaze mobs in Nether Fortresses.
To find Nether Fortresses, you’ll first have to create a Nether Portal and enter the Nether. After obtaining a Blaze Rod, just place it on the central slot of the 3×3 crafting grid and fill the bottom row with three pieces of stone.
While collecting Blaze Rods, make sure that you collect a decent amount because the rods will help you craft Blaze Powder as well. Just like smelting requires fuel such as charcoal, brewing requires Blaze Powder. Before adding any other ingredients, put Blaze Powder in the top-left section of the brewing stand to activate it.
Putting a Blaze Rod in any block of a crafting menu will allow you to obtain two pieces of Blaze Powder.
How to make fermented spider eye in Minecraft
You’ll need a spider eye, a brown mushroom, and sugar to make a fermented spider eye in Minecraft.
Spiders and cave spiders have a 33% chance of dropping spider eyes when killed. Spiders spawn during the night and in caves, mushroom biomes, and deep dark biomes. There are spider spawners in dungeons and secret rooms of woodland mansions too.
Brown mushrooms are commonly found in dark areas with light levels below seven. If you’re lucky enough, you might discover a mushroom biome that is full of red and brown mushrooms.
You can also farm mushrooms, and here’s a detailed guide on how to grow mushrooms in Minecraft.
Last but not least, you can get sugar in Minecraft by processing sugar cane. Sugar cane usually grows near water and you can simply add it to any block of the crafting grid to get sugar. It also helps in making paper which is an important item.
Now, add the piece of sugar to the central spot of the 3×3 crafting table. Put the spider eye on the left of the sugar piece and the brown mushroom underneath it. With this recipe, you’ll get the fermented spider eye.
How to make Potion of Nightvision in Minecraft
You’ll need a Nether Wart, a Golden Carrot, and a water bottle to make a Potion of Nightvision in Minecraft. The Nether Wart and the water bottle are essential for making an Awkward Potion and then, add a Golden Carrot to the brewing stand for the desired potion.
How to make an Awkward Potion
As the name suggests, Nether Wart is an item obtained from the Nether. You can look for it in Nether Fortresses and Bastion Remnants. These are the only locations where Nether Wart spawns, and there’s an even lower possibility of it being a part of the Nether Fortress chests.
Nether Wart helps in making the Awkward Potion which is the primary ingredient of almost every other potion in the game.
In case you don’t have a glass bottle, make some glass by smelting blocks of sand. Then, place two blocks of glass on the edges of the second row of a 3×3 crafting grid and one piece of glass in the middle of the bottom row.
To fill a glass bottle with water, just go near a water source and fill it.
First things first, put Blaze Powder in the top-left section to activate your brewing stand. Then, add a water bottle to any of the three spaces at the bottom and a Nether Wart on the top to make an Awkward Potion.

You can make a Potion of Nightvision with an Awkward Potion and a Golden Carrot.
To craft a Golden Carrot, you’ll have to find gold ore that spawns below Y=31. Turn gold ore into gold ingots with the help of smelting and thereafter, turn one gold ingot into nine gold nuggets by adding the ingot to any slot of the crafting grid.
Do note that you’ll need an iron pickaxe or better to mine gold ore, and here’s a detailed guide on how to make a pickaxe in Minecraft.
Finding carrots is much easier, as they commonly grow in the Overworld and village farms.
Place eight gold nuggets in a 3×3 crafting grid and right in the middle, put a carrot. With this recipe, you’ll get a Golden Carrot in Minecraft.
Now, add the Awkward Potion at the bottom of the brewing stand and a Golden Carrot on top to make a Potion of Nightvision.

After making a Potion of Nightvision, place it on the bottom of the brewing stand and place the fermented spider eye on the top to finally get the Potion of Invisibility in Minecraft.
Interestingly, adding a piece of Redstone dust to your brewing stand while the potion is in one of the three spaces at the bottom increases the duration of the invisibility effect.
