The Modern Warfare 2 open beta and Warzone Mobile have set new records for player participation, surpassing those of other popular Call of Duty titles.

Until September 26, Modern Warfare 2 players were able to hop into the game’s multiplayer beta on weekends and check out the game’s content ahead of its official release on October 28.

After receiving player feedback and data from the beta, Infinity Ward are focusing on making improvements before the full release. However, despite some player complaints, the beta’s numbers exceeded expectations.

Shortly after the open beta came to an end, the official Call of Duty Twitter account described it as “the biggest” one in the franchise based on the player count, hours played, and number of matches.

In the tweet, the developers thanked Modern Warfare 2 players for hopping into the multiplayer beta and helping it reach these heights. They then promised that they are “only getting started.”

The Modern Warfare 2 beta isn’t the only recent piece of Call of Duty content that has set a new record, as Warzone Mobile has surpassed 15 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store ahead of its 2023 release.

This has effectively made it the fastest mobile game to reach that milestone for Activision Blizzard. The developers offered the Archfiend Blueprint for the M4 as a reward for 15 million pre-registration.

If Warzone Mobile reaches 25 Million pre-registrations then a mystery reward will be granted to players that hop in the game. The fact that both of these recent Call of Duty titles were able to set new participation records speaks volumes for the franchise’s popularity.
