After the third report of a licensing issue, Modern Warfare 2 could be set to lose another map from the 6vs6 Core map pool.

Modern Warfare 2 launched with ten 6vs6 Core maps for players to enjoy. Aside from the backlash caused by Santa Sena Border Crossing, players have expressed a generally positive reception of Modern Warfare 2’s maps.

At the very least, they’re thought to be an improvement from Vanguard’s maps at launch which weren’t well received. Unfortunately, the Modern Warfare 2 map pool is at risk of thinning as the third report of a licensing issue looms large over Breenbergh Hotel.

According to a PC Gamer report, an “Amsterdam hotel could take legal action” due to the map design of Breenbergh Hotel. The hotel is “considering legal action against developer and publisher Activision Blizzard,” due to the map’s likeness to the real-life hotel.

In a strange turn of events, this isn’t the first occasion that a Modern Warfare 2 map has gotten into legal trouble. Previously, the fan-favorite Valderas Museum map that appeared in the Modern Warfare 2 beta was removed from the map pool prior to launch.

While there has been no official word concerning the map’s removal, Valderas Museum was also based on a real-life location, which has led players to believe that licensing issues were at the root of the problem.

In addition, the current Crown Raceway map, originally named Marina Bay Grand Prix, underwent some changes in order to make its way to Modern Warfare 2. The map was reportedly modeled after a real-life track and licensing issues eventually led to changes prior to launch.

With Valderas Museum having disappeared from Modern Warfare 2, it remains to be seen if the Breenbergh Hotel map will follow suit, but we’ll keep you up to date as the story develops.
