Console Call of Duty players have been desperate to know whether Modern Warfare 2 will feature an FOV slider on PlayStation and Xbox, and a new Infinity Ward blog post has confirmed its arrival.

FOV, short for Field of View, has been a particularly sore point for console Warzone players ever since the game launched back in March 2020. While both Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard feature the slider to crank the setting beyond the default 80, console Warzone players are locked at the default while those on PC can go all the way to 120.

Raven Software explained that FOV couldn’t come to the original Warzone, so players were desperate to see one in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. After the slider was found in the PlayStation beta files, Infinity Ward have finally confirmed its arrival.

With Call of Duty Next over and Modern Warfare 2 revealed, Infinity Ward’s Console Settings blog detailed the “most essential console settings for Modern Warfare II.”

This blog contained everything you’d expect on consoles including Tactical Sprinting, minimap shape, and aim assist, but it also included FOV details in the Graphics section.

“Adjust your Graphics settings to determine graphical fidelity through items like Refresh Rate, Field of View, and Motion Blur,” said the blog, and then they went in-depth on the setting.

After describing that FOV defines “the height and width of the in-game view” to allow players to see more of the surrounding environment, they warned that “increasing the default value of the setting may cause lower frame rates and increase the risk of motion sickness. Adjust your FOV to your personal preferences rather than sliding it to the max.”

So, there’s finally confirmation that FOV will arrive on the console versions of Modern Warfare 2. There was no mention of the console’s different generations either, so should be the same across both the previous and current gens.

However, there’s still no confirmation of whether the FOV slider will also make its way to Warzone 2 and DMZ. These games have been developed alongside Modern Warfare 2 and share the same systems so it’s likely, but we advise keeping your expectations in check until something official is confirmed.
