Modern Warfare 2 devs confirm Gunfight release date
Modern Warfare 2 players will finally receive the Gunfight mode that they’ve been calling for since launch. Here’s what the devs had to say about Gunfight’s release date.
Modern Warfare 2’s Season 2 update has arrived after a two-week delay and players are getting up to speed with all of the new changes. Season 2 delivered plenty of new weapons and a few new maps, but most notably the update saw the arrival of several new game modes.
Infected, Gun Game, and Grind all made their way to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 2, alongside a Hardcore playlist and Ranked Play. In addition, the mid-season update will also add Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber, further diversifying the game’s modes.
Despite all of the new inclusions, Modern Warfare 2 fans couldn’t help but notice the glaring absence of a fan-favorite mode. Gunfight was notably missing from the Season 2 update, but players need not despair as the devs announced its impending arrival.
Gunfight coming to Modern Warfare 2 Season 3
Gunfight is coming to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 3. While there’s no exact release date for Gunfight, we expect Season 3 to kick off in April 2023.
Gunfight will arrive with maps that were specifically designed for the game mode. Players can expect maps crafted to suit both the chaotic and patient engagements that Gunfight is known for.
We’ll have to see how the Gunfight maps in Modern Warfare 2 stack up against Modern Warfare classics like Speedball, Stack, and Docks. For those desperate for the game mode to arrive, Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 cannot come quickly enough.
The devs also shared that they’d be introducing new Gunfight maps into the rotation with every seasonal update. Hopefully, the support for the soon-to-be-introduced mode will make the wait a worthwhile one.
