Call of Duty players are desperate to get their hands on Modern Warfare 2, but a report claims that the beta will arrive much closer to the October 28 release date than expected.

We’re fast approaching Modern Warfare 2’s October 28 release date which brings the highly-anticipated campaign, multiplayer, Spec Ops, and reportedly, the leaked DMZ mode. Then, Warzone 2.0 is set to arrive soon after.

July kicked off with a ton of leaks and rumors, with Modern Warfare 2’s maps and CoD 2024’s concept art found in Warzone Mobile‘s game files. Now, a leaker claims to have revealed Modern Warfare 2’s beta dates, and they’re further away than expected.

Every year, Activision releases a short trial of the upcoming Call of Duty games’ multiplayer early to give players a taste of the new game and find any major issues that need fixing ahead of release.

According to leaker RalphsValve, Modern Warfare 2’s beta will take place in September. The leaker claimed the PlayStation-exclusive weekend will begin with early access on September 15 and will be open to all PlayStation players on September 17-19.

Then, the cross-play beta will reportedly take place the following weekend with early access on September 22, and the open beta lasting from September 24-26.

Players can get this early access by pre-ordering Modern Warfare 2, and they’ll also get the free Final Judgement bundle for Vanguard and Warzone that includes an Automaton Blueprint.

Call of Duty players, especially those who remember Battlefield 2042’s beta, were immediately worried about how close the beta will reportedly be to release. Most expected it to arrive in August, with September only giving Infinity Ward just over a month to fix any issues that crop up in the betas. But, some took this as a sign that the devs are confident in the game.

Dr Disrespect not impressed by Modern Warfare 2 graphics after Farm 18 map reveal

Dr Disrespect has called out the graphics in Modern Warfare 2 following the Farm 18 map reveal, claiming that the engine is too old.

Streaming star Dr Disrespect has hit out at Modern Warfare 2‘s visuals after Infinity Ward gave fans their first look at the Farm 18 multiplayer map.

Modern Warfare 2 is set to arrive very soon and players have been desperate for any glimpse of what Infinity Ward has in store for them. After the single-player campaign was shown off back in June, attention has unsurprisingly turned to multiplayer.

Ahead of the planned multiplayer reveal in September, the devs have begun teasing a couple of Modern Warfare 2’s maps. First up, we got a look at Marina Bay Grand Prix, followed soon after by Farm 18.

However, not everyone was as excited by the teasers, with YouTube Gaming star Dr Disrespect calling out Modern Warfare 2’s graphics.

During a recent stream, Dr Disrespect watched the Farm 18 developer breakdown, which featured the first small glimpse of multiplayer gameplay as they explored the map.

Doc was clearly unimpressed by what he saw, only breaking his silence to shout “oh god,” before pausing to highlight some grass poking out from the concrete and letting out a smile.

“Boy that engine’s on its f*****g last legs, holy s**t,” he said while looking at a wider shot of the map, explaining that he feels sorry for the developers and what they have to work with.

“There’s too much talent between the three, four studios that they’re throwing at this game now, every single year. 3-400 people working on this game, a lot of them just super talented devs. It’s just a shame they have to work on this engine.”

Doc even questioned whether or not his PC was on the correct settings: “I gotta do something here, I mean am I in HD?” The streamer then went back to compare the visuals of Modern Warfare 2 to the original Modern Warfare, released in 2007. “I mean that was what, 18 years ago?” he joked.

Later in the dev breakdown, Infinity Ward showed a behind-the-scenes image of the engine in action. “Look at how old that thing is, that’s exactly what we worked with,” Doc explained, referring to his time as a level designer on 2014’s Advanced Warfare.

Although Dr Disrespect is clearly unimpressed with Modern Warfare 2’s graphics, hopefully, the game delivers on the gameplay front when it releases in November.

Modern Warfare 2 devs officially reveal Farm 18 map

Modern Warfare 2’s Farm 18 map has been officially revealed and the devs explain how they designed the multiplayer battleground.

Farm 18 map Modern Warfare 2

The Modern Warfare 2 devs have revealed the brand-new Farm 18 map with an in-depth explanation of the design process involved in creating the environment.

Modern Warfare 2’s release date is fast approaching and the Call of Duty teams promised plenty of teasers leading up to their major Call of Duty Next broadcast. While players will be treated to an extensive look at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, new intel is already being revealed.

Players got their first official look at the Marina Bay Grand Prix map during CDL Champs, and now it’s Farm 18’s turn to grab the spotlight. Farm 18 was one of three 6vs6 multiplayer maps that invited players got to experience at an early playtest of Modern Warfare 2.

Thanks to the Call of Duty Twitter account, players can join in on the excitement as Farm 18 is revealed to the world. Not only do players get a look at the gritty Farm 18 environment that has clearly seen its fair share of battles, but dev commentary also provides insight into the map’s design process.

Geoff Smith, Modern Warfare 2’s Director of Multiplayer Design explains that the incredibly popular Shoot House map from the Modern Warfare series inspired Farm 18’s design:

“The idea was, what if we put a Shoot House type situation in the middle? If you really want to play that crazy game you can go to the center and that action will find you. If you want to pull back and play a different way it’s still available to you.”

As we can see from the brief clip, there seems to be an indoor structure at the center of the map, where Smith indicates most of the action will take place. Meanwhile, the surrounding area seems to be a symmetrical paved road where several obstacles obscure lines of sight.

We can see an abandoned bus, massive cinderblocks, and construction vehicles. Farm 18 will be included in the Modern Warfare 2 beta, and players will get a chance to visit the industrial cement factory as early as September 16 when the early access period commences.
