Modern Warfare 2 players are extremely dissatisfied with the game’s UI, calling it “brainless” and asking the devs to “urgently” change it.

Modern Warfare 2 has officially arrived, and despite some players experiencing crashes when trying to party up with friends, others have been enjoying the camo grind and racing to level up as fast as possible.

The devs have introduced a lot of changes for Modern Warfare 2 in the launch day patch, including movement changes which players have already found an exploit for. However, there’s one aspect of the game that has remained the same from the beta and that’s the UI.

It was reported that Activision gained the help of UI designers from the TV streaming app Hulu, as the game has taken on a horizontal-style menu.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be going down too well with the community, as players are calling for change to the UI, describing it as “brainless.”

Modern Warfare 2 players dislike horizontal UI

Reddit user Always-Panic put a post up in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit describing the UI as “the worst UI in a COD game so far.”

The main issue that they have with the Modern Warfare 2 UI is the organization, feeling as if it’s just “everything thrown together in the main menu,” instead of a logical structure. The OP believes that “all the MP playlists should be inside its own menu,” as well as the Campaign and Spec Ops options.

Users in the comments also express frustration, with one user saying “Hands down the worst UI. Feels like fucking Beta 2.0,” as well as pointing out missing features like “barracks/challenges for calling cards.”

Another Reddit user also highlighted the new horizontal UI, calling it “brainless” while asking the devs to change it “urgently,” showing a video of how the new menu system is causing frustration.

Even pro player OpTic Hitch is wondering what was wrong with the classic vertical Call of Duty menus, tweeting “i just don’t understand what was wrong with these UIs…”

Clearly, OpTic hitch prefers the UI from the previous Call of Duty games such as the original Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2, and Black Ops 3.

This is an issue that players had in the beta, and despite Infinity Ward showing some respite with certain features according to feedback from the beta, the horizontal UI looks like it’s here to stay.
