Modern Warfare 2’s beta to feature new Gunsmith system
Modern Warfare 2’s upcoming multiplayer beta will feature the game’s new Gunsmith system, giving players an early chance to get used to the Create-A-Class changes.
The Call of Duty team revealed the official Modern Warfare 2 road to launch and there’s plenty to be excited about. Not only is Call of Duty Next set to reveal a ton of new information about the upcoming title, but you’ll get a chance to play the entire Modern Warfare 2 Campaign a week before release.
In addition to an early look at the Campaign, players will also be treated to a preliminary look at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer thanks to the beta’s availability. Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch on October 28, but players can play the beta as early as September 16.
The Modern Warfare 2 beta is likely only going to offer a fraction of what the full game will deliver, but it’s still a great opportunity for players to familiarize themselves with new features.
Apart from a few maps, there’s currently no word on exactly what the beta will deliver, but we now know that the new Gunsmith system will be available.
On August 16, a Call of Duty blog detailing how to play the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign early revealed some interesting information about the game’s beta. In order to play the Campaign early, you must pre-order Modern Warfare 2 digitally.
Naturally, the blog detailed all of the rewards that players earn after pre-ordering Modern Warfare 2 including Open Beta Early Access.
Amongst the rewards for pre-ordering the Vault Edition is an FJX Cinder Weapon Vault, with the devs explaining that they “plan to share more details on this and the new Gunsmith, which will also be available during the Open Beta.”
This is the first official confirmation from the devs that the new Gunsmith system will appear in the beta. The new system should give players a first look at features like tuning attachments and the new and improved default loadouts.
In addition, access to the Gunsmith system should also reveal how many attachments per weapon players can equip in Modern Warfare 2, so keep your eyes peeled for more information leading up to the beta.
