Modern Warfare 2’s Grand Prix map has cheeky easter egg from developers
Alongside the multiplayer reveal and beta dates announcement at CDL Champs, Infinity Ward revealed the Marina Bay Grand Prix map. Eagle-eyed players will have noticed some Infinity Ward devs make an appearance on the map.
Maps can make or break a Call of Duty game, but Modern Warfare 2 fans are especially excited to play the upcoming Marina Bay Grand Prix map that was revealed at CDL Champs 2022.
Heavily inspired by the Singapore Grand Prix’s Marina Bay Street Circuit, Modern Warfare 2 players will get to experience the map in September’s beta. But in the footage already shown, players have found a cheeky easter egg from Infinity Ward.
As spotted by The Loadout, several Infinity Ward devs exist inside the Modern Warfare 2 universe as Formula One drivers. The paddock is shown throughout the map overview and the in-universe drivers are named on the signs above the garages.
Plus, there’s one more Infinity Ward dev name, Hancock, that can be spotted throughout the video, such as on the right-hand side of the souvenir kiosk at 20 seconds, and is likely another team alongside ‘Rohan.’
Five names can be spotted throughout the 40-second clip, and they all relate to an Infinity Ward dev. Here’s everyone spotted so far:
- Steve Najera – Senior Producer
- Paul Interrante – Environment Art Director
- Carlos Cervantes – Senior Environment Artist
- Matt Evans – Environment Artist
- Charles Hancock – Associate Producer
Judging from the video, the rest of the garages in the paddock aren’t in use so that might not be all of the devs that exist as drivers. But, we’ll get a much better look at the map once the beta goes live in September, where there’s sure to be even more easter eggs to discover.
