A forecast of gaming industry revenue foresees highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2 sales to grow console gaming revenue significantly in 2022.
There are a ton of factors that have contributed to the growing anticipation for Modern Warfare 2. Whether it’s the players’ disappointment with Vanguard or a return to the modern era, the upcoming Call of Duty title is perhaps the most anticipated game in franchise history.
It turns out, that a Global Games Market Report update also predicts Modern Warfare 2 sales to have a major impact on overall console gaming revenue in 2022.
The report shared a ton of interesting information that is mainly positive for the gaming industry. Overall gaming industry revenue continues to grow in 2022 and is estimated to increase by +5.4% from 2021.
You may be surprised to learn that mobile gaming generates the most revenue per platform in the world. Despite the forecast stating that mobile games “will account for 51% of the global market,” some highly anticipated console releases should close the gap significantly by the end of 2022.
Console games are expected to “generate $56.9 billion in 2022, growing +8.4% year on year.” These are positive signs for console gamers and the report points toward premium releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as a major factor for growing numbers.
CoD fans have always adored the Modern Warfare series that produced some of the most memorable titles in the franchise. Therefore, it is easy to see how sales for the highly anticipated game will lead to growth within the gaming industry.
While Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be a home run, the report also states, “The ongoing console performance and fervor around live-service games like Fortnite, GTA Online, and Call of Duty Warzone,” are a major factor in producing positive console numbers from year to year.

CoD Modern Warfare 2 (2022) actors: Cast list so far
From Captain Price to new face Alejandro, here’s every actor confirmed to appear in 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 finally has a release date, and Activision showed off Task Force 141 alongside the reveal. Familiar faces are making a return alongside a brand-new character, so here are all of MW2’s confirmed actors so far, along with who they play.
With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releasing on October 28, 2022, players are gearing up to reunite with Task Force 141. Modern Warfare 2019 completely rebooted the franchise, recasting the fan-favorite members of Task Force 141 with motion capture technology.
Call of Duty players are desperate to check in with Price, Gaz, and the rest of the gang. So, here’s every actor confirmed to appear in Modern Warfare 2 so far.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 main cast
Captain John Price – Barry Sloane
The man who needs no introduction, Captain Price returns in Modern Warfare 2 with Barry Sloane reprising the role.
Hailing from Liverpool in England, Sloane appeared in a number of British soap operas before starring in Revenge and Navy Seals drama Six. Sloane took over the role of Price in 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, providing mo-cap and voice acting for the SAS Captain.
Sloane returns in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, with the captain’s iconic voice opening the key art showcase.
Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick – Elliot Knight
Sergeant Kyle Garrick was one of the three playable protagonists in Modern Warfare 2019 before it was revealed his nickname is Gaz — a fan-favorite character from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Elliot Knight, who has appeared in popular shows such as How to Get Away with Murder and HBO’s Titans, portrayed Gaz in Modern Warfare 2019 and will reprise the role in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.
Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley – Samuel Roukin
Although Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley didn’t appear in Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign, he arrived in multiplayer and Warzone as part of the Season 2 Battle Pass.
Ghost has one of the most iconic outfits in Call of Duty thanks to his skeletal balaclava. Craig Fairbrass and Jeff Leach previously voiced Ghost, but now Samuel Roukin is stepping up to the plate in Modern Warfare 2.
Roukin is an English actor, writer, and DJ who has appeared in the Oscar-nominated Happy-Go-Lucky, as well as Marvel’s Agents of Shield.
John ‘Soap’ MacTavish – Neil Ellice
After appearing as the mute protagonist of the original Modern Warfare, John ‘Soap’ MacTavish firmly cemented himself in Call of Duty’s hall of fame after Kevin McKidd’s performance in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.
Soap was teased at the end of 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot and then appeared in multiplayer and Warzone as a playable Operator. Neil Ellice, who has appeared in Loki and the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn mini-series, voiced the new Soap and returns in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.
Colonel Alejandro Vargas – Alain Mesa
While everyone else on this list has been seen before, Colonel Alejandro Vargas is brand-new to the Modern Warfare franchise. Vargas is part of the Mexican Special Forces and will join Task Force 141 in their mission — whatever that may be.
Vargas will be played by Alain Mesa, who has provided voice acting in video games such as The Division, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Forza Horizon 5. We’re not sure what role the Mexican Special Forces operative will play in Modern Warfare 2, but he’s set to be a “key member of Task Force 141.”
Kate Laswell – Rya Kihlstedt (unconfirmed)
CIA officer Kate Laswell oversaw Alex’s mission in Urzikstan in Modern Warfare 2019 and has a close working relationship with Captain Price.
As revealed by the dialog in Modern Warfare 2’s release date announcement, Laswell has returned to oversee Task Force 141’s mission. Although Rya Kihlstedt isn’t confirmed to return for the sequel, the voice sounds almost exactly the same.
Kihlstedt has appeared in Home Alone 3, Deep Impact, and most recently, the Superman and Lois TV Series.
Farah Ahmed Karim – Claudia Doumit (rumored)
Alongside Gaz and Alex, Farah Karim was one of Modern Warfare 2019’s playable protagonists. Farah was the Commander of the Urzikstani Liberation Force and joined Alex in his mission to find the missing chemical weapons.
Claudia Doumit, who plays Victoria Neuman in The Boys, portrayed Farah and, if leaks are anything to go by, will return in Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Season 3 Reloaded update appeared to leak MW2’s editions, where players who purchase the Red Team 141 Operator Pack will receive Farah as a playable Operator, but it remains to be seen if Doumit returned for the sequel.

Modern Warfare 2’s cover was leaked early and everyone thought it was fake
Some leaked Modern Warfare 2 artwork was deleted for seeming fake, only for the developers to confirm that it was real.
We got new details about Modern Warfare 2 through official key artwork that was previously leaked, only for players to mistake it as being fake.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been the subject of much speculation, with most of the information about the game being revealed through leaks, including the early PlayStation beta and details about the multiplayer.
We finally received some confirmed information when the developers announced the official release date through an artwork reveal. However, it turns out that this information had been leaked early, only for everyone to deem it fake.
On May 23, Reddit user ‘TacticalMongoose’ shared an image of promotional material found in the port of L.A, claiming that it was from the Modern Warfare sequel that’s currently in development.
This post was soon deleted by the moderators of the Call of Duty subreddit, and this led to players assuming that the leaks were probably fake. However, this leak was later verified by the developers themselves.
After announcing the official release date, the Call of Duty team shared artwork featuring all the new and returning characters in Modern Warfare 2, including the same Ghost image that was previously leaked.
Many of the commenters found this revelation amusing, and one user wrote: “Lmao, it got removed by the mods. Even though it was 100% legit.” Another player commented: “They called you a mad man.”
Aside from Ghost, the official artwork also gave us a look at other characters that will be present in the highly-anticipated Modern Warfare sequel, including Price, Gaz, Soap, and Alejandro.
While details about Modern Warfare 2 are currently scarce, we expect more information about the game to be officially revealed as the game’s October 28 release date draws near.

Warzone 2 map & Modern Warfare 2 DMZ map revealed by leak
A new Modern Warfare 2 leak claims to show off the brand-new map that will feature in both Warzone 2 and the Tarkov-inspired DMZ.
Industry insider Tom Henderson claims to have recreated Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2’s ‘DMZ’ map, showing its general layout and POI locations.
A ton of leaks and rumors surrounding Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 have dropped over the past couple of weeks detailing Warzone 2’s new mechanics, the classic Modern Warfare 2 maps arriving as POIs, and the DMZ’s marketplace with tradeable items.
Now, after leaker TheMW2Ghost showed a portion of the map that will reportedly be shared between both Warzone 2 and the Escape from Tarkov-inspired DMZ, Tom Henderson has recreated the full map showing its POIs.
Rather than showing off an in-game image of what they claim to be the DMZ and Warzone 2’s map, Tom Henderson has revealed “what the official Warzone 2 map currently looks like via a drawing.”
In this drawing posted to Try Hard Guides, we can see that the map is set to be on the coast similar to Verdansk, featuring coastal POIs that could use the swimming mechanic that Henderson previously leaked.
While this drawing doesn’t reveal the size of the map, Henderson said “it does seem bigger than that of Verdansk and Caldera, especially considering if the grid reference is accurate.”
Henderson has also marked the portion of the map that TheMW2Ghost previously showed off. Their map didn’t give a ton of detail, but it shows what appears to be roads or train tracks passing through the map. Also, there’s a large river cutting through the middle of the map, with a lake on the eastern side.
There are a few icons on TheMW2Ghost’s drawing, but we’re not sure what they mean. The locks could indicate the Strongholds that both YouTuber NerosCinema and Henderson claim will allow players to get their loadouts, but there’s no guarantee.
Previous leaks have indicated that this map will be based in Central America, taking inspiration from Medellín, Colombia, but the recreation doesn’t confirm this one way or the other.
Of course, this is just a leak for now so there’s no guarantee that this is what Warzone 2 and the DMZ’s map will look like. We expect to hear more from Activision and Infinity Ward later this year, so stay tuned.
