Modern Warfare 3 Remastered does not exist, Activision says
Activision has stated that a remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 does not exist. Rumors have been flying around over the last few months about it.
Rumors started after Modern Warfare 2’s Campaign Remastered was released in 2020 as a standalone release with Modern Warfare 2019 & Warzone.
Some people across various social channels were claiming that a Modern Warfare 3 Remastered, in a campaign form, was in development and planned for release similar to that of Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.
Now, Activision has denied the rumors in a statement sent to CharlieIntel.
An Activision spokesperson says, “A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect.”
Activision has only remastered two Call of Duty games since the franchise started. The first was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which got remastered and bundled into Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in 2016. That remaster featured both the campaign & all of multiplayer as part of the package.
The second remaster was as mentioned above: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. The remaster was only the campaign mode, and did not include the MP mode. It was rumored since 2018, but only released in 2020 with a bundle for use in Call of Duty: Warzone & Modern Warfare.
Activision has not announced any plans for any other Call of Duty remaster games. The company seems laser focused on new yearly premium titles that support and integrate with Call of Duty: Warzone.
