After some of Warzone Season 5’s best weapons received nerfs, Modern Warfare’s MP5 now boasts the lowest TTK, making it the fastest killing SMG in the game.

Modern Warfare’s MP5 has come and gone from Warzone’s meta. It dominated over the course of the first year but Cold War’s weapons knocked it to the side. It’s made a few comebacks, but the most recent wave of updates has seemingly returned it to the meta.

Warzone devs have been ruthless with weapon balance in Season 5, taking down some of the best and most popular weapons such as the Krig 6, Bullfrog, and OTs 9. This has allowed the fan-favorite MW MP5 to re-enter the meta, with YouTuber Rallied discovering that it now has the best close-range time to kill (TTK) of any SMG.

The MP5 has always been a reliable go-to thanks to its decent magazine size, low recoil, and effective TTK. It made a brief return to the close-range meta thanks to the 10mm rounds receiving a secret buff, but that was quickly nerfed by devs Raven Software.

Now, with the OTs 9 nerfed, Warzone YouTuber Rallied figured out that the MP5 now has the fastest close-range TTK of any SMG. Using in-depth weapon stats site TrueGameData, he discovered that the MP5 kills faster than the OTs 9 at nearly every range.

At anywhere up to 10 meters, Modern Warfare’s MP5 kills in under 0.55 seconds. This TTK remains consistently lower than the OTs, with the Cold War SMG only edging it out at 20 meters.

Now, there is another weapon in the running for the fastest TTK – the Fennec. This has a much faster TTK than the MP5 between 10 and 20 meters but isn’t worth using thanks to its high recoil and low magazine size. So while impressive, that TTK is tough to achieve.

While the MP5 is the fastest killing SMG in the game, it can be edged out at around the 20 meter mark. If you plan on using it, we recommend either closing the gap or switching to your Assault Rifle at this range.
