Modern Warfare XP Tokens added back to Warzone

Warzone x Black Ops Cold War integration

Modern Warfare Double XP and Double Weapon XP Tokens will not be available for Warzone following its integration with Black Ops Cold War.

Update – Dec 18: Raven Software have added Modern Warfare Double XP Tokens back into Warzone. Tokens earned before Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 1 are now called ‘Legacy Tokens’ and are available for use only in MW and Warzone. All Tokens earned during and after Season 1 can be used in Warzone and Cold War.

Original story: If you have completed each of the previous Battle Passes for Modern Warfare and Warzone, it’s likely you have accrued several hours worth of Double XP and Double Weapon XP. Unfortunately, following the Black Ops Cold War x Warzone Season 1 update, these Tokens are locked to Modern Warfare’s multiplayer.

2XP Tokens were included in previous Battle Passes, which players paid for. This makes this change extremely disappointing to players who only play Warzone without having purchased Modern Warfare.

Modern Warfare XP tokens removed from Warzone

2XP Tokens locked to Modern Warfare

The Token’s being made exclusive to Modern Warfare was first spotted by Reddit user HydroF.

When selecting Tokens from Warzone’s menu, there are only the Tokens earned for Black Ops Cold War available. When going over to MW’s menu, all previously earned Tokens are there.

MW and Warzone shared a Battle Pass, so Warzone-only players who purchased the Battle Pass now can’t use the tokens they paid for, as they have been sent to a game they don’t own.

It’s likely Activision and Treyarch made this change to stop players from leveling up Black Ops Cold War weapons faster than intended. In order to earn Tokens for these weapons, you will need to purchase the Black Ops Cold War Battle Pass.

With tied progression, you can still use the Double XP Tokens to level up by playing MW, but you won’t level up any Cold War weapons. Unfortunately, you will have to purchase Modern Warfare to access your previously earned Tokens.

Activision and Treyarch are yet to comment on the changes, but we’ll update this article with any new information.
