Modern Warfare’s Season 6 has been extended

While Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War is on the horizon, Infinity Ward have confirmed that Modern Warfare’s Season 6 has been extended.

Infinity Ward has confirmed that Modern Warfare’s sixth season has been extended ahead of the release of Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1.

In a brief update today, Infinity Ward announced that they would be extending Season 6 of Modern Warfare until December 7 at 11PM PST. This means it will end two days before the expected release of Black Ops Cold War’s first season on December 9 at 11PM PST.

This was first noticed by YouTuber WhosImmortal, who spotted the change when he booted up Warzone on November 24. Immortal then tweeted a screenshot of the Modern Warfare Battle Pass, which had been updated with the extension.

In terms of what will happen to Modern Warfare at the conclusion of Season 6, things remain up in the air with no official confirmation from Infinity Ward as to whether there will be a seventh season.

When asked about the possibility of Modern Warfare Season 7 happening, Lead Multiplayer VFX artist Reed Shingledecker stated that there would be “more content coming,” although he wasn’t sure what the name of the content drop would be.

It is possible that Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1 could drop content for both it and Warzone, while Modern Warfare’s next update could just focus on its own multiplayer mode, but that is still unconfirmed.

What we do know is that Black Ops Cold War’s Battle Pass system will be integrated across Warzone and the game and that Modern Warfare will adopt a new progression system between the modern Call of Duty titles.

It’s unlikely Activision and the development teams would release a separate Battle Pass for Modern Warfare, especially considering that Black Ops Cold War’s Battle Pass will be active at the same time.

For now, the wait remains until season 1 releases on December 9th. This update will bring the long-awaited progression system sync between Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War.

Additionally, we will see the first drop of weapons in the battle pass that will be available in both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, which will be a huge change in how players experience the core Call of Duty titles.

New Zombies modes, more multiplayer maps and the return of 2v2 gunfight (with maps) are also expected in the content drop.

A new “Classified” Warzone experience will also become available when the season releases, so content will be plentiful across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

Black Ops Cold War glitch hints at Sniper’s Nest scorestreak coming soon

The Sniper’s Nest scorestreak may be arriving in Black Ops Cold War soon after a player’s video showed the existence of it.

Despite the addition of the H.A.R.P scorestreak with Season 1, it seems that Treyarch could be welcoming the return of the Black Ops 4 Sniper’s Nest killstreak into BOCW.

Black Ops Cold War already has a wealth of scorestreaks for players to use in matches, from the tactical Spy Plane to the simply devastating Gunship.

With the launch of Season 1, Treyarch added the H.A.R.P — a scorestreak that reveals the position of every enemy and the direction they’re running — but it seems it won’t be the last added to the game.

Thanks to a strange glitch that appeared in-game, we could see the Sniper’s Nest scorestreak become part of the scorestreak armory in Black Ops Cold War.

New BOCW scorestreak hinted at

Whether it’s due to unused assets from a previous Call of Duty, or because of future content that has conspicuously been left in, there is a likelihood that Sniper’s Nest does exist.

The MW2 OG Twitter page has been sent a video showing how one player managed to reveal this piece of information. It doesn’t even require any strange glitches or convoluted instructions to appear either.

In the video, the player calls in a Care Package into a game on Nuketown. As the mysterious box of killing-potential is being delivered to the map, the player then decides to mark their territory by tagging it.

Upon doing this, a prompt appears on the left side of the screen saying that they “Marked Sniper’s Nest”. The package arrives with a VTOL Escort, which is great in itself, but it’s not Sniper’s Nest.

Debuting in Black Ops 4, the Sniper’s Nest scorestreak allowed players to call in a helicopter with two absolutely pin-point marksmen that could laser enemies with one shot.

As with most scorestreaks, the vehicle is susceptible to enemy fire and can easily be brought down using a combination of weapons and anti-scorestreak devices.

It’s not exactly a necessity in Black Ops Cold War right now. If it does appear, then Treyarch may just hold off until the launch of Season 2 before throwing it into the mix anyway.

JGOD reveals the best gun barrels in Warzone

The latest video by COD YouTuber ‘JGOD’ revealed the best barrels to equip in Warzone to improve bullet velocity.

JGOD talks about the best Warzone barrels

Call of Duty YouTuber ‘JGOD’ uploaded a video in which he studied how each barrel affects the bullet velocity of most primary Black Ops Cold War weapons in Warzone and revealed the best ones to equip.

Call of Duty: Warzone doesn’t inform you of how much each attachment that you equip will affect your weapon. Unlike Black Ops Cold War; you won’t know the exact stats and percentages, so you’ll have to test your loadout in battle.

After a bit of experimenting, CoD YouTuber JGOD has discovered the effects of certain attachments on his guns. He made a new video, in which he went over how equipping different barrels in Warzone can affect your bullet velocity.

Barrels in Warzone

What are the best gun barrels in Warzone?

You have a much better chance of killing your targets if your bullets travel quickly. Plus, the speed of your bullet will help you determine how much of a lead time you should put in front of a moving target.

That is why it’s worth equipping certain attachments that will improve your bullet velocity before running out into combat. JGOD tried out all his primary Black Ops Cold War weapons in Warzone for the video, with shotguns being the exception.

He tried out every barrel in the game and checked the time taken for each shot to reach its target. He then recorded the results and discovered that barrels shared by different weapons affect each one differently.

This is also true for weapons within the same class since the Calvary barrel can greatly improve the bullet velocity on LMGs while having no real effect when equipping it on Assault Rifles.

His experimentation found that the best improvement to bullet velocity comes from equipping the Ranger barrel on ARs, the Calvary barrel on LMGs, the Titanium barrel on Tac Rifles, and the Reinforced Heavy on SMGs.

That only covers some of the discoveries he made, as his video is highly informative. JGOD put in proper effort to collect this data, and you can take a look at the full breakdown of his results here.

Black Ops Cold War players frustrated with Warzone-exclusive Operator challenges

Black Ops Cold War players are growing frustrated with the game’s Operator Challenges, some of which force them to play Warzone.

Some of Black Ops Cold War’s Operators have challenges that require you to play Warzone to unlock camos and this is frustrating its fanbase.

The crossover between BOCW and Warzone added a whole wealth of new content for Warzone players including a lot of new guns to play with. This greatly bolstered the Battle Royale experience and changed the dynamics of the game’s meta.

On the other side of things, it seems that both games are not being considered as separate games. Operators in Black Ops Cold War have specific challenges that require you to play Warzone in order to complete. Given that some people don’t like Warzone, they feel like they’re being shortchanged.

Warzone exclusive Operator Challenges for BOCW

Both games are currently active alongside one another. This is clearly evident in the respective game’s home screens as you can seamlessly switch between them.

This is supposed to promote unity and allow greater accessibility between Activision Blizzard‘s Call of Duty titles. However, fans are growing tired of the notion that they are very much linked with each other instead of being treated as individual experiences.

The official Black Ops Cold War subreddit has a popular thread showcasing the dismay of many of the game’s players. Reddit user Snatisfaction posted their dissatisfaction for all to see. People with similar views agreed in droves.

“Ah, getting my full £50 worth that I spent on purchasing the game to receive content that’s actually telling me to play a different game. Nice mentality.”

The reoccurring complaint is that lots of people have paid a lot of money to play Black Ops Cold War. But to gain access to the content they have rightly paid for, they’re being forced to play another game – a free one at that – to get their content.

Some people will argue that these challenges are entirely optional. But others will argue will that this is irrelevant and shouldn’t be a thing in the first place.

It’ll be in the hands of the devs as to whether or not they decide to change this and have separate challenges for each game. But if the negativity continues to rise and spread, then they may be forced to take action.
