Players in NBA 2K24 MyCareer mode can enhance their player’s attributes using VCs obtained through gameplay or by purchasing them with real money. However, this latter option is not well-received by many NBA 2K24 players.

NBA 2K24 offers players multiple game modes to spend many hours in front of the screen, from the possibility of creating a dream team with the best players of all time in MyTeam mode to the option of fulfilling the dream of many fans to play in the NBA in MyCareer mode.

In this game mode, players can win NBA championships, as well as multiple individual awards such as Season MVP, DPOY, and many more. However, to achieve this, you need to invest a significant amount of VCs to improve your attributes and become one of the highest-rated players in the league.

Many NBA 2K24 players avoid the long path and acquire a large amount of VCs by buying packs from their own pocket, making the experience quite frustrating for players who cannot afford this.

User ‘Accurate_Gene_7868’ expressed this on Reddit as one of the main reasons why he is “Officially quitting 2k.”

The OP posted that they no longer enjoy playing NBA 2K24 and continued, “They are literally charging people hundreds of dollars for new players,” referring to the game’s option to buy thousands of VCs through packs.

They quickly received a response from a player who went through the same thing a few years ago, “The fact you have to spend so much on VC or you’ll just be grinding with a shit 60 level player for so many games while everybody has leveled up with VC and you can’t compete with them at all is not worth it.”

This comment not only received many upvotes but also garnered many new comments celebrating the NBA 2K boycott even when Microsoft add it to Xbox Game Pass until the developers release a “decent” product.

Finally, user ‘BigMacDownUnder’ made sure to point out that, at the beginning of Season 2, 2K Games introduced a massive nerf to the shooting system, rendering most builds obsolete, “Pretty much at a minimum if you want all the features to be a decent 2k player, you need to drop $300-$400.”

All these posts and comments put 2K Games in a difficult position. Many players are not at all satisfied with NBA 2K24, and they are convinced that if they don’t see changes in the next installment, they are likely to stop buying games from the franchise.
