Following Black Ops Cold War’s pre-Season 2 update, Zombies challenges for Call of Duty: Warzone have been added, confirming the undead will come to Verdansk in Season 2.

Since the strange Zombie machines arrived in Verdansk, Warzone players have been anticipating the undead’s arrival in Verdansk for Season 2. For Halloween, we got to play the ‘Zombie Royale’ mode, although this was a spin-off disconnected from the main plot.

However, new information revealed ahead of Season 2 confirms that Zombies will be coming to Warzone next season, and will likely leave a lasting impact.

Black Ops Cold War received an update ahead of Season 2 which added content ready to be unlocked when the new season goes live on February 25. In this update came new challenges asking players to eliminate Zombies in Warzone.

In Season 2, these are challenges that players can expect:

  • In Warzone, eliminate 8 Zombies before the first circle closes.
  • In Warzone, rapidly kill 2 or more Zombies 2 times.
  • In Warzone, use Shotguns to eliminate 8 Zombies.

With a cargo ship shrouded in storm nearing the shore, many believe the undead will be onboard, waiting to overrun Verdansk.

We don’t yet know how Zombies will be implemented into Warzone. In Black Ops 4’s Blackout battle royale, Zombies spawned in fixed locations on the map. If you were brave enough, you could hunt down these hordes of the undead to find high-tier loot. Fortnite also added zombies to regular battle royale, where they covered the entire map.

Warzone Zombie Royale

This coincides with Warzone streamer NICKMERCS’ theory that zombies will overrun Verdansk, and the area will be nuked to prevent the infection from spreading. After the area is nuked, players will travel to the Ural Mountains for safety, thus giving us a new Warzone map.

Warzone can be scary enough at times with Roze skins hiding in dark corners waiting to pounce on unwitting victims, but with Zombies roaming the map too, you should stay on your guard.
