GTA fans have discovered a Rockstar patent that creates dynamic and complex NPCs to try and make the best NPCs possible in GTA 6.

gta 6 rockstar npc patent

A new patent by Rockstar, to potentially use in GTA 6, has been discovered that will make the best NPCs and make them more complex and intelligent.

It’s been over seven years since GTA 5 first graced the gaming world and there’s still no official word that the 6th game is in development. Every passing day leaves GTA fans emptier and to fill this void, they are trying to find every bit of information they can.

“Their internet sleuthing seems to have uncovered an extremely interesting patent from Take-Two, which could have a major impact on NPCs in their future titles. Rockstar are well-known for filling their open-world games with as much detail as possible, and it appears that non-playable characters could be receiving a major upgrade moving forward.”

GTA 6 NPC patent

The patent, titled “System And Method For Virtual Navigation In A Gaming Environment” patent appears to show a complex set of decision-making algorithms that would affect how NPCs behave around each other and playable characters.”

There is also further evidence to suggest that this is a system to do with a potential new Grand Theft Auto game. The inventors are Simon Parr – Lead AI Programmer at Rockstar Games – and David Hynd – Associate Director of Technology at Rockstar Games.

Information about the patent was posted recently in a Reddit post and discussed by several users. The new system allows NPCs to be more dynamic and complex. You’d imagine the hope is that every player that plays GTA 6 will have new experiences and the world will feel different every time they step foot in it.

Rockstar is never one for settling for anything less than the best. So it’s entirely possible that we don’t hear anything official about GTA 6 for a long time yet.

In the meantime, fans will continue to speculate on the latest rumors such as GTA 6 having a female main character and strange files that further hint at the existence of the long-awaited sequel.

Once official information starts to trickle out about the game, we’ll report it here.

Far Cry 6 release date

So when can you expect to buckle yourself in for another wild RPG in Ubisoft’s next crazy island adventure? The game was originally penciled in for release on February 18, 2021.

This date has had to be put back to account for interrupted development caused by the ongoing troubles in the world.

Ubisoft confirmed on May 28, 2021 that the new release date for Far Cry 6 is now officially October 7, 2021.

Far Cry 6 Season Pass

Far Cry 6 Season Pass

The Ubisoft Forward event on June 12, 2021, during E3 2021, had a major surprise for the community with the reveal of the Far Cry 6 Season Pass.

This Season Pass will allow players to play as the main villains from Far Cry 3,4 and 5, including Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph.

You can find the official trailer for the Far Cry 6 Season Pass below:

Far Cry 6 platforms

far cry 6 art

The first year of the PS5 and Xbox Series X is inevitably going to throw up the constant question of “which consoles will a game release on?” A lot of people are unable to get their hands on the new consoles, whilst some people don’t want to upgrade and therefore need a version for the PS4 and Xbox One.

We can confirm that Far Cry 6 is going to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Far Cry 6 map

yara in far cry 6

The more rural aspects of Far Cry 5 have been swapped out for the exotic features of Yara. Unlike the amazing Far Cry 3, though, a lot of the game will see you bustle your way through backstreets and politically-charged neighborhoods that are heavily-influence by the real-world country of Cuba.

Far Cry 6 feels a lot more urban and more connected, as opposed to the previous games that leave the player wandering alone.

In an interview with Ubisoft Narrative Director Navid Khavari, he said, “the verticality is a complete game-changer. Being able to run across rooftops, use back alleys, fight against some of the toughest opponents in the game in this setting, I think is really unique and fresh. And it completely changes the way the game feels.”

Far Cry 6 story

far cry 6 story father son

The game’s official trailer is headlined by a mesmerizing performance from Giancarlo Esposito – known for his recent work in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Boys, and the Mandalorian. He spearheads the game’s natural villain role as Yara’s evil dictator – Antón Castillo.

His foreboding words in the trailer are an attempt to drill his ideology into the head of his 13-year-old son – Diego Castillo. It seems the game will be a marathon adventure of family dissonance as Antón tries to corrupt Diego into following in his ways.

To counteract his deadly political dominance, you’ll take the reins of Dani Rojas, and you’ll have the option of making Dani male or female.

The Ubisoft Forward event during E3 2021 on June 12 showed off the latest story trailer for the game, and sees Dani accompany other Yara inhabitants on a boat to escape the country. However, Castillo is able to stop the boat, and it is soon revealed that his son Diego had tried to stow away on the boat and escape.

Castillo takes his son with him and orders his men to slaughter all of the people on the boat despite his son asking him to spare them. The video cuts to black with gun firing erupting and the fate of Dani unknown.

Far Cry 6 gameplay

far cry 6 gameplay

The aforementioned environment is going to be completely different than what veteran Far Cry players are used to. The claustrophobic nature of Yara’s tight streets will provide a completely different dynamic than what has been seen previously.

Other than that, we expect a lot of the usual rough and tumble combat with meaty gunplay and a variety of different fight options to make the sandbox feel alive. One screenshot (below) shows a makeshift weapon that implies we could see some deeper customization options and salvaging in Far Cry 6.

Also, “Amigos for Hire” sees a return of the buddy system that allows you to be accompanied by helpers of varying natures. The standout buddy is a physically impaired dog called Chorizo that’s lower-half consists of a wheelchair. In the words of Navid Khavari, “The tease for him is that he literally kills with kindness, that’s all I’m gonna say.

Far Cry 6 trailer

To see an up close and personal look at Yara, check out the official trailer for Far Cry 6 below.

Far Cry 6 is already shaping up to be another memorable and explosive blockbuster in the incredible franchise.

With the incomparable Giancarlo Esposito on board, a fabulous new setting that shakes up the template, and next-gen graphics to look forward to, Far Cry 6 could be a contender for game of the year in 2021.

The first season of Year Six will soon be wrapping up, so fans are looking forward to Season 2, Operation North Star. Not only does it bring a new Operator for the Defending side, but there’s also a plethora of quality of life improvements.

Here’s everything we know about the new season, including its release date, new Operator, patch notes, and how you can try out all of the new content early.

Rainbow Six Siege North Star release date

Rainbow Six Siege North Star

The first season of Rainbow Six Siege Year 6, Crimson Heist, has almost concluded. This will make way for Y6S2 with the new Operation North Star.

North Star officially launches on Monday, June 14, but PC players can give the new content a try early through the test servers on May 25.

If you own Rainbow Six Siege for PC, you can download the test servers for free and try out and test the majority of the new features that will be coming with North Star. But bear in mind that while most of the features will be polished and ready to go for the new season, some may be experimental and not work as intended.

An update for the test servers went line on June 4, 2021, and they applied some fixes for various issues affecting the test servers. You can find the patch notes for the June 4 update below:

BUG FIXES

LEVEL DESIGN

  • FIXED – Bulletproof camera’s view is obscured when deployed on a server in 1F Server Room on Border map.
  • FIXED – Floors covered by fallen doors on Favela map are difficult to destroy with melee attacks and Maverick’s Breaching Torch.

USER EXPERIENCE

  • FIXED – When a player selects another player in the scoreboard, the reporting function doesn’t appear.

New Thunderbird Operator & gadget

Along with Operation North Star comes new Defending Operator, Thunderbird.

A Canadian Operator, Thunderbird is “a speedy Defender who offers strong support to her teammates with her Kóna Stations.” These are deployable devices that shoot out a boost of healing to nearby Operators, either topping up allies’ health or “overhealing full-health players.”

Also if you’re down but not out, making your way to a Kóna Station will also be able to revive you. But beware, attackers can easily shoot out the Kóna Stations but can also steal heals from them if they can get close enough.

Thunderbird’s choice of weapon and equipment are as follows:

  • SPAS-15 Shotgun
  • Spear .308 Assault Rifle (NATO sights)
  • Q-292 Pistol
  • Bearing-9 Machine Pistol
  • Nitro Cell
  • Impact Grenades

She’ll be available straight away for owners of the Battle Pass, and can be purchased three weeks later, on July 5, with Renown or R6 Credits.

The official story trailer for the new Rainbow Six Siege: North Star Operator was revealed to the community in the E3 2021 Ubisoft Forward event which you can find below:

Favela map changes

R6 Siege Favela overhaul

Ubisoft has confirmed that they will be overhauling Favela as part of North Star. This map’s thin walls and convoluted floor plan typically gave the Attackers the advantage but with these updates, Favela should be a more balanced experience.

The map will be shifting to nighttime and fireworks will fill the sky, but developers have also reworked the central buildings. The outer walls are now indestructible, stopping Defenders from getting frustratingly wall-banged at the start of the round.

They’ve removed the ground-floor stairwell entry, meaning that Attackers will need to now enter “through the two rooftop stairwell entries or the various windows and doors,” for more close-quarters fights. Plus, the interior is also now “much more navigable and interconnected,” allowing for more clever destruction-based plays.

The overhauled Favela will be free to all players when North Star launches.

Operator balancing

  • ASH
    • Reduced number of Breach Rounds from 3 to 2.
    • Increased R4-C vertical recoil. Horizontal spread will be more constant and stronger to the right, and long burst recoil will start on the 8th bullet instead of the 12th.
  • FINKA
    • HP is now permanently granted, similar to HP granted by Doc’s Stim Pistol.
  • MELUSI
    • When Melusi’s Banshee Sonic Defense is active, the core becomes vulnerable to bullets and melee attacks.
    • The device now detects enemies’ feet.
  • ROOK
    • The deploy and equip interactions for Rook have been merged, so he now drops the Armor Pack and applies his own armor in the same movement.
  • VALKYRIE
    • Valkyrie now has primary control over her Black Eye cameras, so she will take control over the cameras if another player is trying to use them at the same time (similar to Zero and Echo).
  • VIGIL
    • Increased vertical recoil. Horizontal spread will be more constant and stronger to the the right. Long burst recoil will start on the 6th bullet instead of the 12th.
  • ZERO
    • The ARGUS Camera now uses the same resource management system as the Shock Drone. A shot is recharged every 15 seconds. The device has infinite ammunition and only 1 shot can be stacked.
  • BEARING 9
    • Horizontal spread is now more constant instead of randomly moving to the left or right, and the next shot is closer to the center.
  • SMG-12
    • First shot kick has been reduced and vertical recoil has been reduced. Horizontal spread will be more predictable and constant to the left, and long burst recoil will start on the 12th bullet instead of the 6th.

Tweaks and improvements

GAME BALANCING

Smoke balancing

  • The propagation system in Smoke’s Remote Gas Grenade has been reworked to prevent the toxic gas from traveling through walls, floors, and ceilings.
  • A new sound plays when the canister is detonated.
  • Operators hit by the cloud will receive 15 HP of damage every 0.66 seconds until they leave the area of effect.

Shattered Glass Interactions

  • Players are now able to use a melee hit to shatter the glass of Mira’s Black Mirror, Maestro’s Evil Eye, and the Bulletproof Camera. Shattered glass is opaque and prevents the devices from being used to spot opponents.
  • When Mira’s Black Mirror is shattered, vision is denied on both sides. When the canister is destroyed, the device now shatters and explodes instead of falling to the floor.
  • When Maestro’s Evil Eye is shattered, he has to open the device to see through it.
  • The Bulletproof Camera is now melee-proof from the front, but a single melee hit will shatter the glass. Area of Effect Rationalization
  • Area of effect feedback for Kaid’s Rtila Electroclaws and Nomad’s Airjabs has been updated to better represent their behavior.
  • Area of effect feedback has been added to Ela’s GRZMOT Mines and Jäger’s Active Defenses to help players better understand their range.

PLAYER COMFORT

Defuser Interactions

  • Auto pick up for the defuser has been removed.
  • The pickup action is now manual like it is for other devices, but there is no animation and the prompt appears when the player is in range (they don’t need to look at the defuser).
  • Added key binding for drop interaction. Font Updates
  • Updated Arabic and Korean fonts to distinguish between title and body text.
  • Added a distinction between titles and other text for the Thai localization.

Interface Preferences Update

  • Options to hide the names of teammates and opponents have been added to the Interface preferences in the Options menu. This allows players to have a cleaner interface, especially for the purpose of recording content.

Operator Statistics

  • The Details & Statistics page in the Operators section has been removed. Players can now view stats through Ubisoft Connect (in the in-game overlay and on the website)

Scoreboard 2.0

  • The new scoreboard aims to provide more information to newcomers about match format and evolution.
  • Round history has been added to the scoreboard. New icons represent the status of each round as well as the position of match points and Attacker/Defender role swaps. Banned Operators are also displayed for Ranked and Unranked matches.
  • Round history will be shown in the scoreboard for all PVP playlists and game modes. It supports matches of any length, including the infinite overtime used in some competitive tournaments.

Match Replay Improvements

  • Reduced file size of replays.
  • Changed the way matches are recorded and removed playback snapshots for rewind.
  • Modified the method used to record the UI during a match to improve the stability of Match Replay.
  • Added motion interpolation to make the animation smoother and more fluid.
  • When using F10 on the screen, shortcut keys used for match replays are shown.
  • Enabled Match Replay for tournaments.
  • UX improvements for the control bar.
  • The Match ID and REPLAY BETA label are now visible on the screen that presents the game mode and on the screen that shows the round number.
  • Support for Observation Tools (Caster HUD).
  • Support for Scoreboard 2.0.

Player Cards – Observation Tools

  • Added feedback in player cards to show when an Operator is using Observation Tools. This info will be shown in the Caster HUD. It will also be displayed for eliminated Operators when they spectate one of their teammates. It aims to help players understand their team’s synergy and how they can help one another.

GAME HEALTH

Abandon Penalties Update

  • Penalties are now 60 minutes, 2 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours depending on the level of escalation.

Flash Hider and Compensator Rework

  • Changed how the compensator works. It will now be more efficient at mitigating left and right recoil.
  • Flash hider now only affects the ‘up’ speed, making the gun climb slower.

Squad MMR Restriction for Placement Matches

  • From now on, the Squad MMR restriction will apply to placement matches, even if Squad members have never been ranked.
  • The Squad MMR restriction is currently 700 MMR.

Map Rotations

  • This season’s reworked map is Favela.
  • Ranked/Unranked Playlists: Favela is not featured in the map pools for Ranked or Unranked, so those playlists will remain unchanged.

Rainbow Six Extraction: Release date, gameplay reveal, more

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six spin-off looks to shake things up, and here’s everything we know about Extraction including its reveal date, gameplay, and more.

Published

on

Rainbow Six Extraction

Ubisoft’s newest Rainbow Six tactical shooter aims to be very different from the successful Siege formula and add a horror twist. This is all the information known about R6 Extraction, including its release date, gameplay, possible name change, and more.

The Rainbow Six division of Ubisoft has proven to be very successful since the game’s first entry in 1998. The franchise built up a great following during the early 2000s and gained serious traction with the R6 Vegas games. The series recently hit new heights thanks to the unbelievable success of Rainbow Six Siege too.

But whilst Siege continues to grow from strength to strength, Ubisoft is also making another game in the franchise – Extraction. Focusing less on human threats, Rainbow Six Extraction is favoring infected, less humanlike foes.

We’ve put together a handy guide that contains all the important information about Rainbow Six Extraction so far and what we can expect.

Rainbow Six Extraction release date

rainbow six quarantine trailer

Since the game’s unveiling on June 6, 2019, at E3, the game has gone a bit quiet with the circumstances of the world decidedly having an impact on the game’s development and direction.

During a recent investor’s call discussing Ubisoft’s earnings and projected line-up going forward, it was mentioned that Rainbow Six Extraction is still set for 2021. With a specific date of September 31, 2021, outed.

Ubisoft revealed during the Ubisoft Forward 2021 event during E3 on June 12, 2021, that Rainbow Six Extraction will be releasing on September 16 for PC and current and last generation consoles.

Rainbow Six Extraction release date

Rainbow Six Quarantine – Extraction name change

rainbow six extraction

A more recent development has surfaced about the game citing possible reservations about the game’s title, again, given what’s been happening around the world during its development.

Rumor has it that Quarantine is working under the name of “Rainbow Six Parasite” internally at Ubisoft, and the name was also seen on the PlayStation Store. The company is aware of the title’s current branding predicament, and it’s likely that “Quarantine” will change.

A Ubisoft representative has confirmed the existence of Rainbow Six Parasite branding but says the name “is only a placeholder that our internal teams use.”

On June 7, 2021, it was officially announced that the game will be called Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction.

Rainbow Six Extraction gameplay

rainbow six extraction

Siege’s current template focuses on teams of five that battle it out to best each other over a series of hotly contested rounds.

Whereas, Extraction aims to shake things up by having teams comprised of three Operators work together to take down waves of infected enemies.

At this moment in time, there exists a video containing over an hour of gameplay from Ubisoft’s upcoming tactical shooter, with a spokesperson confirming this: “We can confirm this is a glimpse of our upcoming Rainbow Six game,” Ubisoft said in a statement issued to Eurogamer. “Recently, we ran an internal test for the game, and unfortunately, some of the details became public. This clip is work-in-progress gameplay footage. We’ll share more details about the game later this year.”

The Ubisoft Forward event during E3 2021 brought a deep dive trailer that showed the community a great deal of what they can expect when they play Rainbow Six Extraction. You can check out the official gameplay reveal for Rainbow Six Extraction below:

Aside from the leaked gameplay, the only Ubisoft-released media to do with Rainbow Six Extraction is the original reveal trailer from E3 2019 when it was still under the Quarantine name.
