Recognized industry insider Tom Henderson has said that Halo Infinite battle royale could happen after all. If it does, it may tie into the story, and some interesting skins will be available.
One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Halo Infinite is the ‘will it won’t it’ notion of battle royale for 343 Industries’ latest shooter. The long-running sci-fi spectacular is set to return in 2021, and many people have been wondering if it will have battle royale.
Now, reputable leaker Tom Henderson, responsible for the early leaking of details for big games such as Battlefield 2042, has said that BR is in development for the game, and also that it will feature story connections and interesting cosmetics.

He said: “If you think #HaloInfinite cosmetics are going to be “true to the franchise”, you’re in for a surprise. It seems like they are going down a similar route to Apex Legends to me, with a lot of wacky stuff. One skin appears to be a snowman to release around Christmas for example.”
Paid cosmetics are an accepted practice in modern-day gaming with many live-service games opting to utilize the system. Despite Halo being a traditional and serious game, it could prove to be a mistake for 343 if they didn’t capitalize on this opportunity.
Halo is a household name, and with Halo set for a big launch across Xbox and PC, the chance to bring in extra revenue from optional cosmetics would be a no-brainer.
Halo Infinite battle royale & story
Tom also goes on to make some interesting points regarding battle royale as he says it’s not only “been in development for years,” but that it will also tie into the story.
Given that the recent leaks concerning battle royale in Halo Infinite, it is completely believable that the game is going to feature battle royale, whether as part of the game or as a free, standalone extra.
In a year where Battlefield 2042 is releasing and the Call of Duty franchise is set to expand upon its franchise with the rumored Vanguard title, Halo will naturally want all possible measures to get ahead in the FPS race.
