Sledgehammer Games have confirmed that Warzone will receive a brand-new map along with an anti-cheat system to coincide with the integration of Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Since its release in 2020, Warzone has cemented itself as the king of the battle royale, dominating Twitch and YouTube for over a year. Despite its incredible popularity, fans have asked for changes to the game, specifically aimed at the map selection and lack of anti-cheat.

These prayers are set to be answered later this year, with Sledgehammer Games Studio Head Aaron Halon confirming to CharlieINTEL that a new map and anti-cheat are coming later this year during an early preview event for Call of Duty: Vanguard

Raven Software will be leading the development of the new Warzone content.

Verdansk in Warzone

New Warzone map confirmed

Verdansk has been home to Warzone for 17 months and is the only proper battle royale map in the game. While Rebirth Island was added to give players another option, it’s smaller than the original map and doesn’t feature as many players dropping in.

Verdansk did receive an update to match Black Ops Cold War, taking the map back to how it would have looked in 1984, but players were largely disappointed to remain in the same location and had hoped for a completely revamped map.

Finally, that is set to happen with the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, with Halon confirming that Warzone players would move to a brand-new map “later this year,” seemingly confirming that it will drop before 2022. Whether it will drop as soon as Vanguard releases remains unknown.

However, we have been given a sneak peek at the new map, with Call of Duty officially confirms that Warzone will be going to “THE PACIFIC” with a new teaser trailer released on September 7, 2021.

In the trailer, players get a first look at the kind of terrain they will be battling it out on. With what seems like a huge volcano towering over the map, players will be getting a brand new experience on a Pacific-themed map.

The teaser shows a deep rain forest filled with caves, dense foliage, and modern buildings and settlements that fit Vanguard’s WWII theme.

Warzone anti-cheat

On top of a new map, Halon also confirmed that a new anti-cheat is also coming to Warzone, as the teams who develop Call of Duty work to rid the game of cheaters.

Hackers have become a huge area of contention for fans of the game, and while Raven Software have banned around 800,000 accounts, the cries for an improved anti-cheat system have been growing louder as time goes on.

This new Warzone PC anti-cheat will be a “brand-new, multifaceted anti-cheat system” and will be launching on the same day the new Warzone Pacific map launches for Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Along with these major features, Halon says Warzone will share the same tech as Vanguard to ensure “seamless weapon integration and operator play balance” and will also connect to both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War too.

On top of all that, there will also be an extensive calendar of free post-launch content, although a roadmap for this release has yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, players will be able to get their hands on the game over the coming weeks and months, and we have everything you need to take part in the upcoming Vanguard Alpha and Open Beta tests.
