Activision have officially announced Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile ahead of its reveal at the Call of Duty Next event which teases Verdansk’s highly anticipated return.

Call of Duty: Mobile has continued to be a massive success, bringing its eighth 2022 season on September 7. While it features a Blackout-like battle royale, Activision are bringing Warzone to mobile devices and tablets after Modern Warfare 2’s launch.

Activision showed a small teaser trailer for Warzone Mobile at the Gamespot Swipe Mobile Showcase, revealing its official logo and teasing something that players have been after for months — Verdansk’s return.

There’s not much to the short Warzone Mobile trailer shown at the Swipe showcase; all we can see is a plane flying above the clouds. However, long-time Warzone players will instantly recognize the plane.

Although it doesn’t show any of the map, this short trailer is the beginning of Verdank’s original intro sequence before it changed to Verdansk ‘84 during Cold War’s lifecycle.

Players already theorized that Verdansk would make a return after Warzone Mobile’s playtest was leaked but this all but confirms that the map will feature in Warzone Mobile. The original Verdansk intro sequence makes the pre-Verdansk ’84 map with Dam and the fully-built Stadium more likely too.

Although it probably won’t be back in Warzone 2, players have been desperate to play Verdansk again and even though there’s no guarantee that Verdansk will return in Warzone Mobile, it’s looking increasingly likely.

Be sure to check out how to watch the Call of Duty Next event where Warzone Mobile will be officially revealed alongside Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, Warzone 2, and perhaps even the leaked DMZ mode.
