charlieINTEL Fan, Matthew Plumb (@Plumby94) attended GAMEfest on Saturday and was among the first in the UK to play Spec-Ops in Modern Warfare 3. He was nice enough to share his thoughts on the game and the event for MW3 fans who couldn’t make it in the UK. Here’s what he had to say:

Read his review after the break:

On Saturday 17th September, I attended GAMEfest in Birmingham, UK and it was amazing. The highlight and reason I went is because Modern Warfare 3 was there for the public and press to play. I jumped straight into the queue outside the Modern Warfare 3 booth which had some awesome MW3 and Elite decals outside the booth. I was queuing for about 30 minutes until I got ID’ed at the entry of the booth then I walked inside and was greeted by 30 Xbox stands to my right, a rather large plasma in the centre with an Activision woman showing off the campaign mission which was shown by Robert Bowling at the world wide reveal, and to the left was a large circular custom made Modern Warfare 3 table made for this event and it looked amazing, the table had 15 Xbox’s with Modern Warfare 3 loaded and every Xbox there had the new Modern Warfare 3 branded Turtle Beach X11’s.

I queued for about another 20 minutes inside the booth before asking for @Acti_Insider who gave me a free T-Shirt as he tweeted to ask for him! Also, this where I took a few pictures before Activision told me to put my phone away!

After queuing I was almost at the MW3 table when Activision said it was full as Press and other people were on there but luckily there was one more spot for me, I sat down and to my right hand side was my Spec Ops partner that I had never met before, we were playing on the map “Resistance”. The loading screen, pre-game lobbies and HUD’s were quite similar to MW2, we started off in the middle of the map when the enemies spawned in the first few seconds, automatically I noticed the graphics were practically the same and also gameplay, which pleased me as in my opinion if those were changed it wouldn’t feel like the Call of Duty we all know and love. Two different things I did notice were that there is slightly more recoil and it is a tiny bit harder to aim at targets, this was caused by the “sway” of the gun which was brought back to MW3. We only had 15 minutes playing time as there was a huge turn out for the game!

The hardest rounds were round 5,7,10 and 13. At round 5 dogs started coming and attacking us, round 7 was a helicopter round where helicopters came, wave 10 was where the first juggernaut came which was difficult to kill but wasn’t as hard as the juggernaut on MW2. Round 13 was when an Activision rep came up to me and said “Unfortunately your time is up, but congratulations the new highest round” and awarded me and my partner with another T-Shirt and a Prestige patch!

The overall feel to MW3 was immense and I’m even anticipating this game more. Some of the highlights were testing the guns. I tested out the Model 1887, ACR 6.8 and the MP5 all of which were superb and deadly accurate. The armoury was a great, this was were you got to buy your guns and attachments as well as pay for a refill on ammo, the other armouries were for equipment and also air support. I used the predator missile which is slightly different as it is attached to a recon drone so on the initial opening of the laptop you are actually viewing the recon drone and you also move but when you fire it becomes the normal predator missile from MW2. I also found the Delta squad very useful as when both me and my partner went down they came and revived us. The overall feel to Modern Warfare 3 is superb and feels slightly like Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 mixed together with a bunch of new extras.
