NICKMERCS calls for one major change along with Warzone’s Pacific map

There’s a lot of hype around the new Warzone features coming with Call of Duty: Vanguard, but NICKMERCS still feels there is something missing.

Streamer NICKMERCS in front of Pacific Warzone map

After popular streamer Nicholas ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff infamously quit playing Warzone recently, the new Pacific map has him intrigued. However, he is still calling for one major change.

The announcement of the brand new Pacific Warzone map alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard has fans excited about the future of the battle royale. Even more importantly, the addition of anti-cheat looks set to combat the hackers that have plagued the game for quite some time.

This is one of the reasons why NICKMERCS quit Warzone recently in favor of Apex Legends, but the new content has piqued his interest enough for him to dip back in. However, there is still one big change he’s eager to see.

Warzone characters aiming weapons

Nick said in a recent upload to his YouTube channel that the fresh additions coming alongside Vanguard mean he will be jumping back into Warzone for the first time since taking a break.

“I have always said that they need to make a new map with an island theme, jungley, and did they deliver. I haven’t played it, but I saw the pictures and videos and it looks phenomenal,” he said.

He compared the “vibe” of the new map to the original Kings Canyon map in Apex Legends, which Nick says is an aesthetic he really likes.

Although the new map and anti-cheat have him excited, the absence of one feature in Warzone means that the streaming star is unlikely to “permanently” return to playing Call of Duty.

“If they’re going to be listening, then I’ll keep it going - I’d love some kind of ranked mode, something to grind. That’d be so lit bro,” said Nick. “Not League Play, I want a battle royale, just like Apex Legends ranked, something to play for.”

This isn’t the first time Nick has called for a ranked mode in Warzone, he believes that it’s a huge miss in the game, and is the reason that streamers have been making the switch to Apex instead.

With Vanguard integration edging ever closer, it remains to be seen if devs take the streamer’s advice on board and add a ranked mode.

Vanguard January 27 update patch notes: Cold Blooded buff, Fortified adjustments & spawn fixes

Here are the full patch notes for Vanguard’s January 27 update, which buffed the Cold Blooded Perk and adjusted spawn logic.

Vanguard Paradise map update

Vanguard’s developers Sledgehammer Games released a patch on January 27 that rolled out a fix for spawns on Paradise, adjusted the Fortified Perk, and buffed Cold Blooded.

It’s no surprise that Vanguard players have been frustrated with the current state of the game and Sledgehammer Games have been hard at work to alleviate issues with the game.

We received a Vanguard update on January 20, and it looks like players are getting another small update on January 27 to alleviate minor issues before Vanguard Season 2.

The January 27 update addressed spawn issues on the Paradise map, tweaked the Cold Blooded and Fortified Perks, as well as eliminated performance issues across Multiplayer and Zombies.

Here’s everything you need to know about Vanguard’s January 27 update.

Vanguard update January 27 Perk tuning

Vanguard Perks

The significant buff to Cold Blooded will now protect players from enemy dogs. Adding dogs to the list of killstreaks that will not target you acts as a big boost to the Perk. Dogs are often the most annoying killstreak to deal with in Vanguard Multiplayer.

Unfortunately, the “Aim assist toggles on and off when the player is engaging an enemy player with the Cold Blooded perk on” card has not been removed from Sledgehammer’s Vanguard Trello board which leads us to believe this issue has not been fixed yet.

The changes made to Fortified are meant to revert the recent changes made to the Perk that practically turned players invincible. Now certain killstreaks will be able to damage players with Fortified equipped.

Vanguard and Warzone Pacific carried on from where Cold War and Warzone left off by giving players limited-time windows of opportunity to increase the XP they can earn.

Vanguard players slam utterly “boring” Operators

Call of Duty: Vanguard players are slamming the game’s current lineup of Operators and labeling them as “boring.”

Vanguard operators

CoD: Vanguard players are expressing their frustration with the current lineup of Operators; labeling them as “boring” and calling for more exciting characters in the game.

There are 12 different Operators that you can play as in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Picking any of them doesn’t affect your gameplay, since they’re essentially cosmetic skins that you wear in the multiplayer.

While they all have their own unique backstories and designs, some players aren’t satisfied with these Operators. Some members of the Vanguard community feel that these characters just aren’t fun and exciting.

Vanguard Operators posing

Reddit user ‘Mibs007’ expressed their frustration with the game’s Operators in the CoD: Vanguard subreddit, labeling them as “boring.” The player also compared them to characters from older CoD titles.

They explained that older Operators were much more enticing: “It was hard to choose which one to use. You could barely resist giving in and buying one. Now they look like people you see eating a truck stop.”

Many of the commenters shared this sentiment and criticized Vanguard’s Operators. “Hate them all. Haven’t spent a penny on anything in the store since vanguard launched,” wrote one user.

Much of the criticism was directed towards the characters’ backstories. “I agree that they could be cooler characters though and their ‘lore’ feels like it was written by an intern in 5 minutes,” another commenter stated.

One user claimed that Vanguard’s Operators could be improved by having two factions: “All the operators are the good guys basically. If that had an Axis faction I think we would at least get some variety in character design.”

At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether or not the developers will implement a change like this in the game. We will probably see new Operators arrive in Vanguard Season 2, and those might be more to players’ liking.
