Streamer Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff has revealed his theory on how Warzone Season 2’s teasers could lead to the destruction of Verdansk.

Almost every battle royale game on the market has several maps. Fortnite moved onto an entirely new map for Chapter 2, and Apex Legends rotates from several maps that undergo significant changes each season.

Rebirth Island was added to Warzone in December, but this smaller map wasn’t designed to replace the large-scale battle royale action of Verdansk.

For months now, Call of Duty: Warzone players have been eagerly anticipating a new full-scale map, and following Season 2 teasers in Verdansk, NICKMERCS has a theory on how it will happen.

Warzone Zombie Royale

Warzone Season 1 is set to end on February 24 and teasers for Season 2 are being spotted in Verdansk. Lightning has appeared in the sky and strange machines asking players to “activate zombies” have been found in Hospital and Stadium.

Zombies came to Verdansk for last year’s Halloween event, and it looks like they’re set to make a return soon. While the machines asking players to “activate zombies” don’t do anything yet, NICKMERCS believes they will be the key to how Warzone will progress to a new map.

Since secret bunkers containing nuclear bombs began appearing in Warzone, “there’s always a conversation about a big nuke hitting the map.” As NICKMERCS explains, a Zombie outbreak would be the perfect reason to nuke Verdansk.

“Zombies takeover, we drop the nuke, blow up the map, and we go somewhere else.”

With players anticipating an in-game event to kick off Season 2, escaping a Zombie-infested Verdansk before it gets nuked sounds both highly plausible and exciting.

It’s all but confirmed that after Verdansk, Warzone will move to the Ural Mountains. This location is the map for Black Ops Cold War’s Fireteam: Dirty Bomb (like Verdansk was for Modern Warfare’s Ground War) and was mentioned in the post-credits scene for the Firebase Z Easter Egg.

As we approach Season 2, expect more teasers and easter eggs to be discovered around the Warzone map.
