The Grau 5.56 dominated Warzone’s meta in the early months of the game, and following significant nerfs to Cold War’s weapons in Season 3, top streamer Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff believes it’s back.

Warzone has gone through several weapon metas, but many players consider the Grau 5.56 to be the best and most balanced. A nerf to the Grau all the way back in July 2020, buffs to other weapons, and the integration of Cold War’s guns made the Grau somewhat lackluster.

However, following nerfs made in Warzone’s Season 3 update, streamer NICKMERCS believes that the Grau has climbed back to the top of the pack. After members of Nick’s community said he should try the Grau, citing popular YouTuber JGOD, he tried it out again with great success.

Using the Grau, NICKMERCS was on pace for a 40 kill game and said it’s likely that it’ll be one of the best gameplays he’ll upload for a while. Even though he didn’t hit the 40, he still put up a more than respectable 30 kill game.

Nick said that the Grau is “definitely viable, definitely great,” and it and the Kilo 141 are “lit” in Season 3. However, he said he feels that the M4A1 is lacking this season.

Nick built his Grau 5.56 out for range, using the previous meta attachments for the weapon. As stated in the title of the video, his Grau is built to have “no recoil,” capable of lasering enemies at medium and long-range with pinpoint accuracy.

NICKMERCS’ Grau 5.56 loadout for Season 3

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Tempus 26.2″ Archangel
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags

Nick’s Grau 5.56 is designed to beam enemies at medium-long range with no recoil. For extra range, he added the Monolithic Suppressor and Tempus 26.2″ Archangel barrel. These attachments vastly improve the weapon’s bullet velocity and damage over distance.

To make sure he accurately hits these long-range shots, NICKMERCS used the VLK 3.0x Optic because it provides an unobtrusive picture of targets, and the Commando Foregrip almost completely removes the recoil. And finally, Nick used the 60 Round Mags to take out multiple targets without having to reload.
