Following the announcement yesterday by Activision on Black Ops 3, many fans have been asking if the new title from Treyarch will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Activision and Treyarch are remaining quiet about this topic as of now…but there’s been some talk across the web about the possibilities.

There are some talks flying around about the possibility of Black Ops 3 on last-gen consoles. Industry source shinobi602 posted on Twitter stating that the title will be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. More so, he recently tweeted that the 360/PS3 versions of Black Ops 3 will be handled by a different studio, not Treyarch. This would be similar to what Sledgehammer Games did with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer Games developed the title for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, and the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are being handled by High Moon Studios. It’s not clear as of now as to which studio within Activision could be working on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Black Ops 3, if it’s in the works.

Other evidence does exist, which hints at the possibility of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 being next-gen only. PlayStation uploaded the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 teaser video to their YouTube channel (side note: this is the first time PlayStation has uploaded a Call of Duty video to their channel since the Call of Duty: Ghosts Reveal trailer) and in the title of the video, PlayStation only mentions PS4. On other videos where a title is on both generations, they mention PS3 and PS4:

A really interesting rumor has surfaced regarding the possibility of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 maybe coming to the Wii U. Users are stating that, for the first time, on CallofDuty.com (once you log-in and visit your profile page), it now allows you to link your Nintendo ID.

Some sites are suggesting that this may be hinting at a Wii U version of Black Ops 3, but it is important to note that Activision has not released a Call of Duty title on Wii U since Call of Duty: Ghosts. Treyarch normally handles all Wii U ports for Call of Duty titles; and for Advanced Warfare, Michael Condrey said it was an “Activision decision” to not have the title on Wii U.

We’re expecting to get the official release date and platforms for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with the world reveal on April 26th.
